The actual keyboard key? Isn't that what the right click button pretty much does? :U

I guess I'm the only person in the world who actually uses that key as intended (or enough that I'd miss it if it was gone), and no it's not quite the same as a right-click

But it's pretty rare still, the most common use I can think of is in Explorer:
- Select a file with the keyboard (arrow keys or typing the first few letters)
- Press the Menu key to open the file's right-click menu

A right-click would open the same menu, but I'd have to move the mouse over the file first ... so this saves time

I'm sick of all these useless keys weaseling their way into the standard PC keyboard layout and shrinking the space bar. No more, I say!

(seriously, my laptop's bottom row consists of CTRL, FN, [Windows logo], ALT, SPACE, ALT, [Windows menu], and CTRL)

I don't use it for anything.

Maybe someday I will remap it to an IME-specific key to make typing Japanese easier. Needing multiple keys to switch input formats is kind of a hassle. めんどくさい。

In the old days, the Commodore 64 had nothing but a very long space bar on the bottom row. I think that was typical of computers from the late '70s and early '80s.

A 101 Key keyboard dispenses with all of those nicely.

Well, unless you're on a laptop. Then... *shrug*

Of course, if you look at a Commodore keyboard, there's a lot of things that would be hard to get used to for someone like me who has only used modern keyboards- like, a "CONTROL" key instead of tab, for example...

If I hit it, it's purely by accident and even then it's so out of the way that said accident rarely happens.

Yep.

The funny thing is that most C64 emulators (and by "most C64 emulators" I mean "VICE") will map keys by position rather than by the function of the key. So you have to use Tab as a Control key, type ] for the * symbol, etc. This is why they made these:

I didn't know my keyboard even had that.

Never used it. Likely never will.

Edit: Also, Waffle, you're starting to sound more like an angry old man.

I use it when I for one reason or the other don't have access to a mouse.

Other than that, never.

I think I used it once when my wireless mouse died and I really needed to open a menu before walking to get new batteries from the drawer. Other than that once incident, can't say I've ever used it purposely.

As I have an apple keyboard, I physically cannot use this key as it is not present.

I do use it on the ancient pentium PC I have that no longer has a working PS/2 port for a mouse

So yeah, rarely.

Edit: ♥
I need to get around to doing that someday. I never use it, so.

I'd love to have some additional function keys though, that no programs will respond to normally, so I could just map them to whatever.

Pretty much this. I've never pressed it before, not even by accident. I probably should map something useful to it, then.
