Oh well. Wes Anderson can be somewhat of an acquired taste.
I bet you'd like Rushmore, though. ____________________ About the author: A prolific contributor to Jul with some 1528 posts published, Sofi better fancies herself as a cinema geek, a composer, an occasional gamer, a budding fashionita, an absolute cooking newbie and a general life enthusiast-satirist. Yeah, it's pretty great and it's a really mature film especially for a young director's third movie, kinda like Paul Thomas Anderson's Magnolia. ____________________ About the author: A prolific contributor to Jul with some 1563 posts published, Sofi better fancies herself as a cinema geek, a composer, an occasional gamer, a budding fashionita, an absolute cooking newbie and a general life enthusiast-satirist. Originally posted by Anya I had never heard of that movie before, either. I admit I didn't use to watch that many movies before, anyway. |

Originally posted by SofiOriginally posted by FieryIce Ahh, okay, that explains something. I thought these were particularly famous movies that I really should've known about.
Generally, if the movie didn't make the theaters nationwide, it probably didn't broadcast in Puerto Rico (unless you had satellite TV with lots of US channels) |

FieryIce, I talk almost exclusively about art/indie films when it comes to cinema. :T I haven't actually seen most "mainstream" movies. ____________________ About the author: A prolific contributor to Jul with some 1601 posts published, Sofi better fancies herself as a cinema geek, a composer, an occasional gamer, a budding fashionita, an absolute cooking newbie and a general life enthusiast-satirist. I'm really sorry to hear that.
Movies mean a whole lot to me and I think they are a sorely under-appreciated form of art. ____________________ About the author: A prolific contributor to Jul with some 1607 posts published, Sofi better fancies herself as a cinema geek, a composer, an occasional gamer, a budding fashionita, an absolute cooking newbie and a general life enthusiast-satirist. | I don't think I underappreciate them but between not having TV here, not having a theater nearby, not having the money to buy DVDs, and not wanting to illegally download stuff (since US ISPs began monitoring traffic), there are really not that many opportunities for me to watch anything.
Sometimes I watch Japanese films with my boyfriend, some like Spirited Away were amazing~ ![]() |

Oh, I know you don't. I meant people in general. I'm personally someone who's planning on going into a film major, so it makes me sad when I see people who say movies suck. I've managed to convince some people otherwise, though, by showing them some movies but some other people can't be helped.
They're stuck in their hole of movie-naΓ―vetΓ© and constantly say it's "not their thing". ____________________ About the author: A prolific contributor to Jul with some 1612 posts published, Sofi better fancies herself as a cinema geek, a composer, an occasional gamer, a budding fashionita, an absolute cooking newbie and a general life enthusiast-satirist. There's really a point where it's just being blind, though!
You seem to keep thinking I want people to be the same as me but if that's true it'd mean I'd have to be not-unique. Good diversity shows an interest in other things, not blind ignorance of it. There is something to be enjoyed for anyone in film or any arts but you just have to look in the right places. ____________________ About the author: A prolific contributor to Jul with some 1614 posts published, Sofi better fancies herself as a cinema geek, a composer, an occasional gamer, a budding fashionita, an absolute cooking newbie and a general life enthusiast-satirist.
