(Not sure if this kind of thread exists yet or not, so yeah. :I)

We all have moments when we do something incredibly stupid, but minor--like the stereotypical "WHERE ARE MY GLASSES--oh wait they're on my forehead" moment that you see in cartoons and such.

I just had a weird one. I wear fedoras a lot, you see, and I decided to wear one this evening. I noticed it felt a little funny, but I shrugged that off, figuring it was because of my new haircut.

About half an hour after putting the fedora on, I happened to look in the mirror and notice that I had it on backwards. Felt pretty stupid after that.

So what are YOUR biggest derp moments, Jul?

I actually did step on my parakeet once. He survived, though. Only stepped on his tailfeathers but I seriously should have looked before placing my feet down like that.

All the fedoras I've owned have had pretty clear fronts and backs (the front is flat and the back kind of curves upward...kinda hard to explain, but yeah).

As for stepping on things, I once was a complete idiot and left my DS on the floor, right next to my chair. Open, no less. (Yes, I wound up stepping on the screen, and yes, it was permanently ruined. Thankfully I had the money to get a new one. Still felt incredibly dumb, though. ) I don't think I've stepped on birds or other small animals, though I do occasionally trip over my cat.

I used to run into metal poles when I was 7-12 years old. A lot. 5 times at least. My skull is kinda insensitive due to it.

I caused at least 20 of my ear infections by sticking my finger in my ears.

I zapped myself touching a plug while fumbling around trying to plug in a lamp under my bed in the dark.

I flew down the stairs once, carrying a cat and a power supply, because I couldn't see my feet.

I accidentally put 5 instead of 4 on my transcript for units and nearly lost my admission to a university over it (it's still possibly lost)

I set a motherboard on fire by plugging a regular IDE cable into a floppy cable slot.

I bought a VCR by mistake, mistaking my broken component for being a VCR when in reality it was a broken 'screen enhancing device.'

I tried, repeatedly, and stupidly, to put too new replacement hardware into ancient computers.

I dropped my cell phone, face-down, then looked for it in pitch darkness, stomped on it with my boot in the process. Amazingly, it survived mostly unharmed, despite knocking the back off of it.

I plugged the wrong cable into a screen converter device, frying it. It was $100+. Bah!

I fried a motherboard by putting in the CPU and then breaking a part of the heatsink, and turning it on anyway.

I took too many math classes once, just because my cousin said so, and got meh grades as a result.

I've worn clothes backwards more than once.

Also, I'm extremely clumsy and will often trip over my own foot. Once, I tripped like this and got really bad scrapes on both knees.

Academically, I tend to take more classes that I can handle, causing me to have to drop them again to avoid failing or sinking my GPA.

Worn a shirt inside out for school.

Noticed in class, just went "SHIT WHAT AN IDIOT I AM!" and proceeded to fix it.

And all was well.

I got lost in the dark in a super tiny apartment bathroom once.

That's probably the biggest one.

All my derps are computer related. Improperly installing stuff, deleting important system files, destroying hardware. Standard stuff for techies to experience.

Otherwise I've been too afraid to try stuff to chance derping. Though socially I derp a lot; I can be very rude.

A classic one of mine: When I was around 6 or 7, I was at one of my brother's baseball games playing around the playground. One of the kids decided to take my hat and that started a game of keep away. I don't remember how long it had been but I finally got my hat back. As I was running sideways to show someone (probably my mom), I turned forward just in time to smack into a huge tree. I had some pretty good scratches from that, but surprisingly no black eye. My brothers didn't let me live that one down for a while.

Going back into the sands of my childhood, I suppose the three years I played youth baseball (batting average: .000) have enough deep moments to last a lifetime. The first thing that comes to mind is one fun little moment where, with a 3-0 count, I ended up getting a foul tip because of the pitch was so wild it hit the bat. Or when I did hit the ball, and was so stunned I just kind of stood there (and got out as a result)...

A long time ago in high school, this girl took my pencil, playing around with me. She knew me and we were playing. What I meant was "Oh, now don't make me put my hand in your pocket...."

What I said was "Don't make me stick my hand down your pants!"

That was embarassing yet hilarious.
