Guess what! The media of course hasn't felt like it's milked the Casey Anthony cow dry yet so they're not only putting out a documentary film but also a reality television show inspired by the case and many other families with parents suffering from mental conditions! As someone who's had a close and painful relationship with someone with the same sort of issues Presti is alleging Anthony dealt with, I think this proposal is really funny and by really funny I mean not funny at all!

But personal experiences aside I think reality TV is increasingly bringing us closer to the world of insensitivity, a land where above all nothing is sacred and everything is up for grabs to achieve fame and fortune.

Take a look at this wonderful announcement, which claims the show will be "16 and Pregnant meets Jerry Springer with a Judge Judy twist". I'm sure a number of us are quite cynical to the alleged "goals" of producers like this and that it's really just fishing for ratings through sensationalism.

The worst part is I'm pretty sure this has been done before.

What are your thoughts on this situation?
Have you ever been on a reality TV show?
Have you ever had a really dysfunctional family which you'd like to have televised for the masses?
Is it "too soon" for anything inspired by Casey Anthony to exist at all or do you find this timely and necessary?

In a way, I think it's been there for a while. While many of the more controversial and offensive reality shows (Who's Your Daddy? springs immediately to mind) were canceled very quickly, there's still the issue of them being created in the first place.

That said, I doubt a show like that would last long--there'd be too much outrage, I'd think. I'd give it one season, tops.

I definitely agree that they're just fishing for controversy, but that doesn't always work out for anyone involved.

I just don't watch TV anymore, and probably never will again. It's a barren wasteland of moral bankruptcy and crass commercialism. I have to leave the room whenever my parents turn it on, otherwise my head literally starts hurting.

Actually, I'm pretty much done with mainstream media as a whole.

I don't watch TV either. It's all garbage.

^ The two posts above me says it all. If for some reason there is something on TV which I want to see, I can find it faster online and I can skip having to deal with all the adds. :/

Sometimes I'd want to have some type of obsession show tear up my mom. Then I'd realized that's stupid at this point, but with the way things are going, it may have to happen. Rather have it not, though. Because I realize most of the time that shows like that are ultimately stupid, but it's kind of an addiction. LIke what my sister said about VH1 and Lifetime. She'd stop on a show there and only expect to watch the rest of it. 4 hours later she's still watching and has no idea why.

Some television can just suck you in.

I watch some TV but most stuff I quickly end up seeing "Oh, they're just doing this because they're so blatantly obvious about it!" and stop watching it.

I usually watch WWE, Futurama, and a couple of other shows regularly a week and that's it.

Oh my god, that's hilariously awful. You know, if she says she hates being told that she looks like Casey Anthony, I'm not really sure why the article keeps saying she does, even referring to her as a "Casey Anthony Lookalike". I know, victim protection, but still, journalists!

The media remains a source of useless sensationalism, as always.

But then again, enough people pay attention to them, so they have no reason to change as long as it makes them money.
