While waiting for the laundry, I decided to put together an outfit from some clothes I haven't really been wearing lately so I put on this white t-shirt under a floral-patterned dress, both from H&M, and topped it off with this red AmericanApparel® chiffon twist scarf tied into the shape of a ribbon around my neck, which I've been kinda obsessed with lately and wearing with almost everything, and I thought the combination was pretty awesome but then I realized the colors and shape are overwhelmingly reminiscent of Cirno (of the Touhou Project, yes).

I'm like not really sure what to make of this at all! On one hand, I'm still maintaining the impression of ironically appropriating/stylizing the image of older people who are too poor or stubborn to update their styles and are stuck in whatever decade they grew up in but then I'm mixing it with the image of a Japanese dōjin game character, which creates separate distinct connotations/impressions. This could be interpreted as being doubly ironic, another layer being added to the irony cake, but the dilemma is whether this image accurately describes my "personal brand", my individualism. Is this outfit me?

Yeah, I think I can pull this off.

Generally I sit at my computer, right next to my window AC unit.
But if I have to go out, having a car with AC helps a lot.

That's just insane.. though it was probably 90F in my room last night, and that's AFTER having an AC on til 10 that evening.

It's nice here, because we have the sweltering heat, but generally humidity is low.

Our AC unit is separate from the rest of the house's because our room was an addition to the house. For some reason they decided not to connect the central air to it... But I was really worrying about this summer because the AC unit seemed to be not working very well. Even on full blast it was barely keeping the room comfortable when it was only 90 outside. Well, I was looking at it one day and saw that obviously it had filters on the inside unit (its 2 pieces, outside unit with the fan and inside unit that blows the cool air). After opening up the gate for the filters, I saw that they were completely clogged. After cleaning them off, they were wire mesh and reusable, I put them back in and turned it on. HOLY CRAP! On low setting it was blowing harder than it was on max before! So now we keep our room nice and cool around 75. I have to adjust the temperature or speed every once in a while if its really hot, but so far it's stayed steady at 75.

It's not that terrible; my fan is working full-time on a high setting. It'll be over soon, it should start slowly getting less hot from next week on.

There's an air conditioner in this room that is meant to be non-functional, I guess. I don't dare turn it on to hear about the electric bill from my grandparents.

So I just uselessly have a ceiling fan on at max and I don't get very comfortable at all. Last night was probably the first night I actually slept well in four days. I sleep horribly when it's too hot.

Ceiling fan?? I think those are almost useless. Well, at least the ones I've seen in action seem useless; they usually don't cool much at all.

I guess it doesn't usually get too hot way up in Maine, maybe?

The heat index is at 111F now... yay I went outside just to see how it felt ... oh boy, like an oven.

This house has fairly good air conditioning on the first floor, but the second floor (where the bedrooms are.. as well as my usual computer set-up) is not nearly so much, it works well-enough for night-time temperatures but it tends to get pretty hot during the day regardless.

Ceiling fans do little to cool you down, they basically just circulate the air around so there's some semblance of a breeze.

It doesn't usually get that hot in Maine but 80-90 degree weather feels really hot for us because we're more used to the cold than anything.

But yeah, all I can use is a ceiling fan much to my dismay.

When we lived in Utah, most houses didn't have AC, only a swamp cooler. If it gets above 85 then that's a really hot day. This was up near the Salt Lake City area. I can't remember the name of the suburb we lived in.

AC is pretty rare in Seattle. We don't get many hot days, but the ones we do get are torturous because of that.

It depends on the area, really. There are many ACs in Southern Europe, near the Mediterranean, but as you travel farther north they get rarer and rarer. I don't see too many of them here where I live.
