My dad had a few boxes full, but he didn't have a record player, so we sold them cheap at our yard sale before we moved.

| | Metal_Man88's Post | My grandfather has a huge collection of ancient high-speed records we can't really play.
It's a bit of a shame.

Sadly I do not own records now, but my Grandpa also has a collection at his house, but I haven't earned the chance to play them yet, but I do enjoy those old records.

Originally posted by Danielle Oh yeah, I love records. I have a player and I collect records whenever I pass by a record store or go to LA (Amoeba music!). I have about 20 right now. They sound so warm and full and fresh...
Amoeba is fucking excellent for stuff like that, I love going in there just to browse because I'm always amazed at what I'd find. |

I know my grandparents have a whole bunch, but I know absolutely nothing about a record player. I'd like to think that they do, but it's probably up to camp.

I recently received a SUPER SECRET FANCLUB-ONLY TMBG EP in the mail.
It's on a record.
I want to rip it to my compy but can't.

I bought a USB turntable a while ago because there are a good number of places to pick up super-cheap used LPs in good condition. It's a shame that new releases on LP are so expensive in comparison ($20-$30 each compared to <$10), but from my experience LPs cost a lot more to manufacture than CDs, so I guess it's a necessity.
I've also wanted to start trading on Discogs, but the shipping part of internet buying/selling always kind of puts me off from that sort of thing (read: costs money). Probably worth it though, I've seen a lot of good shit for sale on there for pretty good prices.
