The Pains of Being Pure at Heart – “Belong”

I haven't listened to their second album Belong in a while and I didn't really think of it until I read a really thoughtful and interesting comment Kip Berman posted defending his music on Pitchfork from random comment-ers. I like their first album a whole lot because listening to it on my iPod while walking down the streets of Boston makes me feel like I'm living in a Wes Anderson movie for some reason but I of course have to admit that the second album is pretty different, which is totally off-putting at first, but now I'm coming to admire it.

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart is a pretty new band and Belong is them having found their sound after their fairly uniform sound-finding self-titled.

Daft Punk – “Superheroes”

I totally ignored this track before but this track is actually really really cute. There's a part later on that uses the same chord progression as the Yoshi's Island ending music, which is in like 70% of Japanese pop in general, too.
