So yeah, like Goldeneye, there's a nice treasure trove of unused stuff in this game too, but we really haven't documented much of it yet. Not only that, there's stuff from the game that really needs to be reuploaded and junk because the page we have is older than the Revolutionary War and needs to have things be updated to be spiffy keen.

I can probably do some things, but not others. I'm gonna download that PD texture viewer thing and prod around in that, because I know there's some unused stuff in that, but I can't think of exactly what. I saw it on a page once, but Rare Witch Project has changed so much that I don't think any of the old articles on that stuff even exist anymore and I don't know how the fuck I'm gonna go about finding this stuff without excessive time of possibly screwing around on archive.org (can't we get SubDrag in to help us with this, maybe? o.O).

I also know there's some unused text, Chicago has a dummied objective or something like that, and I know there's other stuff around that just isn't used that we could really expand upon to make a featured page.

The question is, is anyone willing to help me out with some of this stuff?

EDIT

An oldie, but a goodie. Granted, remember this was waaaaaaaaay back long ago, so a lot of speculation here may sound silly to us, but it's got a few codes to show off some unused objects.

Sub-Drag probably has volume's of beta info garnered from his own personal hacking romances with GE64 and PD. Seems like Delstar had a a few PD items too but i think they've gone off the net now.

As for the latter, I don't remember it, but if it did it should surely be available on archive.org. The Goldeneye part of that site definitely is.

I think that GoldenEye Editor in Perfect Dark mode could come in handy with uncovering beta elements. It can browse the level objects, action blocks(scripts), text files, and much more.
Page for the Editor

One of the things is an incomplete "Retaking the Institute" mission that's in the game's text...
Very incomplete...

There actually is a Perfect Dark editor out now too, just like the Goldeneye Setup Editor. At least, SubDrag was posting YouTube videos of it some time back.

I've been trying to use them but it keeps saying I'm missing .dll files. Meh.

Gonna have to do this the old-fashioned N64 Gameshark way. =/

You can find the missing files on all dll files...I think. Seems like I did that the last time I tried using the GE editor.

I could probably find them, the question is where I put them, and also if those files are safe. I'm trying to be relatively careful with this computer this time 'round. ^^;

Programs always check the EXE's directory so that'd probably be the surest bet. Someone's had a computer crash I see.

You could list of the DLLs and I'll pull them out of my computer (or hand over the installers from Microsoft, if they're something like a missing .NET runtime).

Yeah, I'm just a little paranoid about it. I'm missing d3dx9_30.dll so I can't run the Goldeneye editor.

Seems like there is another emu that uses that I'll see if I've got it laying around.

Also, that DLL site isn't that big a threat. I used it on and off before. Just don't get confused with the ads trying to trick your download, like every other download site.

And yeah, just drop them alongside the EXE. But as someone posted, here you only really need to install DirectX it looks like.

You'll need to set back the date to 2006 for the links to work (thankfully, with the new Wayback Archive interface this is easier than ever). Once you've done that, though, you can harvest the goodies inside.

...You know, you'd think that I'd have remembered that site since I actually used to be a moderator of the forum there.

Some of the stuff there is pretty interesting that I forgot about. Should something about the cheese be mentioned, as well as some of the strange level design stuff in Multiplayer? The ? grate in the Warehouse level looks just like something rare did to be jerks, but the sewer ammo boxes seem a little more legit. Perhaps they didn't get a chance to finish some of the levels like they wanted in time?

I haven't kept up with the PD stuff in ages, so...

Kind of unrelated, but I was looking at the Mysteries section on that PD page and noticed something in the following entry:

Cassandra DeVries' Replacement Necklace

In dataDyne Defection, the game's first level, Joanna obtains Cassandra's keycode necklace. But much later on in the game, when the two of them meet up in the Skedar Attack Ship, and DeVries is killed, she leaves behind her necklace, and you can pick it up off the ground. If you look in your inventory, the description of the item is "CASSANDRA DEVRIES' REPLACEMENT NECKLACE. USERNAME: CDV780322 PASSWORD: I8M0ZYM8NDI85. This username and password, along with the username and password from earning Perfect in the Combat Simulator, have no purpose. It turns out, that they were intended for use on the Carrington Institute and dataDyne websites, but were never used. More info in the Secret Passwords and Cassandra's Necklace sections.

While I'm not sure of the significance of the numbers after CDV in the username, the password, I8M0ZYM8NDI85 (I AM OZYMANDIAS), is a reference to Ozymandias, either the famous poem or the person. The sentence is similar to a line in the poem, however.

"My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"

Forgive me if that's already been noticed. =)

Oh hell yes!

I say it's better there's one partially there than not at all. I'm quite surprised that Rare actually had it in there in any form. Awesome find, Rez2!
