Machi-Machi v. Kyan!
At NC State, no less...

I'd be more worried about the fact that NC State HAS a nuclear reactor.

Yeaa...Not to mention how potentially catastrophic it would be due to...Gah...What's the term i'm looking for, again? Reactor Meltdown? No, that can't be it. Backfiring? Maybe. Well, massive occupational hazards aside, it looks rather interesting, actually. I'm curious as to what kind of progress they'll make.

So, in addition to gamma ray annihilation beams we now have anti-matter beams? Weeee...

Now they just need to make an Ice Beam and I'll be happy.

We have a nuclear reactor here at Ohio State. ABC did this story about how our country isn't secure and used our reactor as an example. However, they neglected to mention that if our reactor had a meltdown, the fallout would extend to like the front yard of that building.

And... Anitmatter rays? I was always under the impression that matter + antimatter = explosion.

I thought it would take to long to gather up enough anti-matter atoms to do anything with... Apparently NC state figured it out though.

Nifty, though I'm more interested in practical weapons.

Well, if it tears a hole in the space-time continuum that rips open to the point of instantly destroying the entire universe, at least I said so ahead of time.

Right now? You don't. But given that they're talking about... umm... atoms of the stuff (being extraordinarily generous, here; positrons are so small that they're pretty much insignificant), and they tend to last for upwards of a tenth of a second, I don't think there's too much concern yet.

Still, though, cool. Reliable sources of antimatter could make for a really interesting program for physicists.

Magnetics, last I checked. Apparently, since magnetic fields aren't matter, they don't react with antimatter.

They're dealing with positrons, not whole atoms.

That's it. I need a picture of a shark with a laser on its head for one of my mood avatars.
