Based on a lot of feedback I've seen... I'm VERY interested to see the official reviews for this one.

Oh, and apparently there's crazy loading times and framerate issues in the console ports... granted, that's possibly something that can be fixed with a patch, but still.

They did the same with the Goldeneye Remake.

But then again, truth is, we were never gonna get old fashioned Duke. That'd require the original devs to have been able to make up their mind on an engine and release it before it became financially impossible to make a risk like refusing to update the game to more acceptable 'modern' FPS behaviors.

So far, the Metacritic reviews are average... although the PC versions actually has a score of 76 compared to the 360's 54.

The positive reviews are going along the lines of "it's not perfect, but it still feels like Duke" and the negative reviews are basically "Duke's stuck in 1998".

I'm going to wait until I actually play the game before I form an opinion of it. I always thought that Metroid Fusion was crap, before I got into it and actually enjoyed it. But, I have a while before I can save up enough money to get it, unfortunately.

I got the game kind of early, and it isn't all that bad. Anyone expecting world-shattering innovation from it -- especially considering that it took 14 years to finish, with several engine changes, several developer changes, and at least one honest-to-god cancellation -- is expecting a bit much. It's like a weird gaming time capsule. A few jokes are horribly, horribly dated, true. But the freaky thing is, those jokes probably serve as decent indication as to what year that section of the game was being worked on. Freaky stuff.

Honestly, with how irritating they are over the course of the twoish hours it takes for you to get there? I was cheering. They are the least welcome characters I've ever seen in a video game. I was hoping they'd get killed much earlier, in a much more spectacular fashion. Then again, I interpreted "You're... fucked" in the sense of "you're shit out of luck," because goddamn if I'm helping them. Sad parodies of women, the both of 'em.

I agree with this statement, too. If you do decide to play it, this scene is pretty much the extent of the "humor" found in that sequence. The rest of it is Duke being remorseful/angry at not being able to help the women, insofar as a man whose emotional range goes from "heh heh, dick jokes" to "grrr" can sound remorseful.

That said, I still would've preferred something large to fall on them, Monty Python foot-style. Holy shit, they're annoying.

I saw this part of the level too.

I just fail to see who thought it'd be fitting in a Duke Nukem game.

I'm thinking I'm just gonna bite the bullet and get this game.

It looks bad, but it looks so bad I actually want to play it.

Plus it's Duke Nukem Forever. Its taken about as long to make as my entire schooling career.

I want it to be at least half as much fun as school was (school wasn't fun)
