On Mandarin: Week two has ended and I think progress has slowed down a tiny bit but overall it went great.
- I think I'm at around 150 hanzi.
- I can recognize a bunch of radicals which has made learning the hanzi a lot easier. I can read and write far better than I can manage a simple spoken conversation, though.
- I understand small phrases (sometimes whole sentences) in songs I listen to and TV shows.
- I know the most common classifiers and I improved my pronunciation dramatically (according to a Chinese friend).
- Sometimes I forget the tones for words that are otherwise the same.
- Sometimes I hear the "r" in "rén" as a "zh" and I have trouble pronouncing "rì".
- Right-to-left horizontal lines throw me off sometimes.

Nice! That's amazing considering you are learning one of the hardest-to-learn languages!
I'm self learning a language over the summer, trying to complete my goal of being perfectly fluent in three languages by the end of highschool. |

Spanish is my first language; I didn't learn English until I was about 14 years old. |

Nice. Spanish is my third language. I could understand all that you said, but I'm still quite far from fluent, I still have yet to learn most of the subjunctive tense and a lot of vocabulary.

Ah, what is the other language? I can also speak French and Italian very well, and some German (which is my college major). I'm not fluent in either though, I have never had the chance to use them extensively enough. |

Same with German for me. I had it for 5-6 years, but I can't remember much of it at all. |

Well it seems to be sufficient to converse with me, so it can't be this little...

If you don't use it, you lose it.
That's why I try to speak French as much as possible around here; if I'm at a store and the clerk/cashier's speaking French, I'll play along. Of course, if it's English then I'm not going to complain at all.

Nous pouvons parler en français si tu veux, j'aimerais pouvoir l'utiliser de nouveau ! C'est vraiment difficile de trouver quelqu'un avec qui parler par ici. |

On a toujours l'impression qu'il n'y a pas beaucoup de personne qui parlent français sur internet pusique l'anglais est la langue majoritaire xD
