Yeah, I'm waiting to see some of the later levels. I couldn't stand Unleashed mainly because it was so automated. Then again, I did play the Wii version, which I'm assuming was inferior, but that still doesn't change the entire nature of the game. I was at a least an hour and a half in, annoyed as hell and didn't actually PLAY a damn thing. Then I got to a werehog level and didn't have the patience to deal with what I felt were shitty overly complicated controls. Even the day stages didn't seem worth it so I was like "you know what, this is when we shut the game off".

However, though similar in layout, this game doesn't look nearly as automated as Unleashed to me. Sure you can make it that way if you use the boost the whole time and attempt a speedrun like the player in the video is doing, but this looks more like a cross between the gameplay of Unleashed and the Adventure games to me. Then again, I'm not sure if I ever even got to an ACTUAL day stage in Unleashed. The stages I played were so short and pointless that they may have only been day training levels. Maybe the later levels were exactly like this, i don't know. But to me, comparing this game to Unleashed is a completely undeserved insult as this looks like a lot more fun all things considered.

I guess my real concern is exactly what the other levels are. So far, I'm assuming they are only going to be levels from the first game in the same way that DKCR was really only based off of the first DKC game. If so then that is kind of a let down for me since the first game is my least favorite of the main 2D Sonics. I would like to see levels from 2, 3, CD, and Knuckles in there. Heck I'd even prefer 3D Blast over Sonic 1, but I know I'm a minority there who actually enjoyed 3D Blast.

I'm pretty sure it will have more than just Sonic 1 levels. At the very least, we can expect one level from each game. Maybe 2, if we're lucky.



And the Day stages in Unleashed do get longer, but not necessarily less automated. Some of them get so long and have evil designs that make them more of a chore to play. (Hi, Eggmanland!)

Wii/PS2 Eggmanland is like 3 minutes long.

360/PS3 on the other hand... umm... multiply that by 10-30 and you've got it.

But yes, the Wii/PS2 version of Unleashed is incredibly stripped-down compared to the next-gen version.

I think this game may be coming to the 3DS. According to THIS article on sonicstadium.org, the game is listed by a local GameStop store in Canada to be available for the 3DS. The site also states that it fits in with every thing else Sega's hinting at.

I also read on Kotaku that a PC version is in development as well. Or at least, a "Sonic game" is being developed for the platform.

So, yeah. Unless something goes horribly wrong, the 360/PS3 edition should be fine.

3DS one is kinda iffy though. Looks like DIMPs was partially to blame for the badness all along--their video shows a kind of dead and lifeless world with relatively mindless and pathetic boss mechanics.

I'm gonna try to avoid spoilers, myself. It has been quite a while since a Sonic game had spoilers that I'd even care about. Sonic Colors, while good, didn't even have that many, although it did have some interesting secrets.
