So, anyway. I went to the E For All expo today, and will hopefully do so again tomorrow. Here's a brief summary:

I rode the train out, ate breakfast, got in, and immediately run to the Brawl area. I wait in line, try Sonic, and... nearly win on my first try???

Anyway, I play some more, then I have the luck to find one of my online friends who was there and meet with them.

There's a Melee Tournament, I try to get in, too rusty to qualify. More line-standing.

Got a free T-shirt by luck, and a free Wii keychain.

Not one, but four bums ask for my change on the way home.

But otherwise, it was fun. Got any questions about Brawl? I can probably answer them. Alternatively, any of you been to gaming conventions before? :p

Wow you got to play Brawl.

Was Sonic hard to control by any chance?

If you run, likelyhood is that he'll fly off the side of the stage.

Otherwise, he's very easy to control, aside from Super Sonic. You gotta be quick, otherwise the foe will dodge you over and over again.

Almost all his attacks are the same, but that's for the better, as I kicked some serious butt with him.

That's awesome that you got to try Brawl. I've always wanted to go to a gameing convention and plan to do so eventually.

2 questions:

A) What was your opponents character? Was he difficult etc etc (usual questions that come along with how hard was the other guy...)

B) Were you there for the power outage?

I have two questions as well:
What stage did you play? And was it as good as the SSBB Site said it was?

I played several stages, and against several characters.

No one stage stuck out much, I saw neat action with the Pokemon Stadium stage, and I also saw the Castle Siege stage go through the motions. The best one was the Lylat Cruise one, as the ship literally flew through several famous Star Fox areas, including right into battles between enemy ships.

Most of my opponents were semi-weak, I beat most of them handily with Sonic. Meta Knight could combo well, but lacked hard-hitting smashes; Samus was sorta balanced, DK seemed meh. I never managed to fight Diddy Kong, but he was probably one of the most fierce foes.

Most stages were flat, too, like Battlefield. Pit's stage explodes a lot, though the clouds hold it together.

I wasn't there for the power outage, no. :p

The SSBB site exagerates a little, but what it doesn't mention is how balanced all the characters are.

I have a different question, from what I can tell from the videos, the wiimote control scheme was the one you could play with, so how does it handle? It honestly looks like a pain to use to me, but that's probably because I'm used to jumping with a button, not the up d-pad direction.

The wiimote is miserable. You can hardly jump, shielding is awkward, and you have to press two buttons to grab. I've heard with the nunchuk it's bearable, but they had no such thing there.

We also tried out the classic controller. Decent, but no match for a real control scheme on a GCN controller, which, sadly, nobody was allowed to use.

That's odd. So many people were saying the Wii Remote controls were beginning to seem nice and actually work. Maybe they just take some time?

Or they just vary from person to person.

By the way, anything else worth mentioning from the expo NOT relating to Brawl?

I hope that in the end all of the modes work out well. I mean, you can't forget that you can rearrange all of the configurations of the buttons! ^^
That is something that wasn't seen until PSX/N64 games and then disappeared in the end of Last Generation.

Metal Gear 4.

Walked by it repeatedly.

Mediocre food.

Nintendo showgirls screaming in ear-rending tones.

Magazine guys who ran around with bullhorns yelling.

Super Mario Galaxy, Mario and Sonic Olympics. Got a good look at both.

Mario Part DS: Doesn't look too bad.

Saw the Wii Zapper in action. It's a friggin' piece of plastic. Whoop-de-do.

Some really lame WWF game. Also, ATV vs. MRV or some weird game.

Civilization: Revolutions appears to have dumbed it down from previous titles.

Rock Band and Guitar Hero stuff everywhere. Ow, my freakin' ears. Good rock tunes, though. Too bad I didn't know them by name.

No-name EA games... Mrs. Pac-Man's birthday (25th or something?)

The owner of the people screaming in bullhorns has over 7,000 games, according to his employee who thought Mario's alternate costume in Melee was actually Wario.

A handfull of weirdoes in costumes. I stuck to my leather jacket n' hat ensemble.

Free T-shirts, I got one by grabbing it. Somebody else grabbed it at the same time, challenged me to a Rock-paper-scissors duel. He picked rock, I picked paper and won. It's mine now.

Nintendo booth girls handing out evil Wiimote keychain thingies. Got one. Most people used their laser-like blue light to blind people. And hoarded them.

I saw two Japanese guys with 'VIP' tags. I swear they had something to do with Super Mario Galaxy, because they were staring at people playing it and commenting to one another.

Halo 3 Tournament, didn't enter. SSB:M tournament, couldn't qualify. Too rusty.

Some weird Intel thing with people dancing in front of a greenscreen, to appear dancing inside an actual realistic game. Freaky.

Major League Gaming events, two of them, didn't watch much.

People dressed up as: Pac Man, Mrs. Pac-Man, some weird guy with a chain from a game, and a man in a white suit with a robot-toaster head with red eyes.

I also saw some SSB:M guy named Germ, and some other guy with a fedora, and a third guy with a beard and moustache, somebody screamed out their codenames. They were apparently there for Brawl like I was, to brush up on it before anyone else.

That pretty much covers it.

Still awesome that you got to play. I'm... jealous

Samus also had a Gravity Suit. Meta Knight had the same White and gold thing Bowser had, I suspect it has to do with the Subspace Emissary somehow.
