If you want interesting and serious discussion then why don't you try the 15 different forums dedicated to serious discussion instead of the single forum at the bottom of the page dedicated to less serious posting?

Also I don't really see how this is really drawing attention away since apart from a few short exceptions those forums have had pretty much the same amount of activity as they always have.

I will give that more lengthy or quality topics would be of value but most that are serious turn up in the General Chat section anyway. But locking an area for random access humour away would only lead it to be more prominent in General Chat or other sections. It's luck that most of it has stuck here, aside from little inside jokes reaching elsewhere.

Well, I've noticed myself completing my reading of topics I find interesting to be concluding a lot quicker for quite a while, so there is a noticeable degredation in content posts.

I honestly don't understand how random bullshit is fun or funny. I don't need conversation to be completely serious, but thread after thread of like "Hey chickens!" "Lol" "Turkeys!" "Lolol" "raaaaaaandom" just has no appeal, and doesn't provide any thought or useful information or anything, and it's really not funny.

So rather than say it's my problem and that I should do something, why not do something about the change to keep the forum under control and keep the post quality up, rather than let it devolve in to stupid crap.

Look, I'm not huge on excessive zaniness myself, but we have it pretty much contained within a forum or two. If you don't like what's going on in here, then go to another forum. It's not like they're dead because of this forum.

Locking this forum would either spread the insanity to other forums, making the situation far worse, or it would signal the beginning of a random access humor purge, which is frankly an even more ludicrous concept than the "retarded humor" which you mock.

Jul was not meant to be 100% serious business. Forcing it to change now will only have catastrophic results.

Anyway, you all miss where I said that, even on other forums, quality or at least activity seems to be down, in comparison to activity in this forum going up. I seem to spend less time reading Jul, because I don't find as much to read, now, that are posts in threads with proper discussion.

Keep in mind, as well, this is a busy time of year for many of the board users. Finals, end-of-year stuff for those not in college (as well as finals)...
