I am eating a big Watermelon (from Spain-.-) right now and I am mad, that I live in Austria, because I can't breed my own tropical fruits.
Is someone of you living in a country, where it is that warm, so you can just go to a nice spot and bury a seed of a watermelon/lemon/orange/banana... and they start to grow?

I hate it, that in Austria there is only growing something like apples, pears and something like that...

I tried to breed a orange tree inside my house and it is already nearly a metre tall, but the tree doesn't want to wear fruits! O.o

My father has been growing a banana tree mostly-indoors (in Massachusetts, so it gets hot enough to put it outside in the summer) with similar lack-of-results.

Not really. Maine is terrible for trying to grow citrus fruits.

If I could, though, I'd try to get my own fresh pineapple. Oh my God how wonderful that would be to just pick a pineapple from the tree and eat it...

I had nearly the same feelings with watermelons

Here in California, almost anything will grow, but we have not the space to grow massive watermelon vines here. Although I have had Avocado, Myer lemons and similar grown locally here.

I had a Venus Flytrap for about a month once. No exotic fruit producing plants however.

Tried growing a lemon tree once.

...Literally nothing happened. Kinda depressing.

Pear trees would be kind of a waste to plant here, we have orchards all over the place. I've been able to grow fresh tomatoes, watermelons, a peach tree, a lemon tree, a fig tree (which was totally on accident), potatoes, strawberries and zucchini with relative ease, despite Oregon being somewhat cold.

Outside my parents' place there was a blueberry bush and every year or so it'd produce blueberries. It was really neat, but we never picked them or anything. We just let the birds eat them.

Oregon should be somewhat cold?
Here in Austria NOTHING (but pears and apples and that kind) grows, if you dont let it grow in a glass house -.-
The only really good thing here in austria is, that strawberries and raspberries grow
You have the luck, in your country Watermelons grow...

BTW: Yesterday I planted blue and red potatoes
I hope they start to grow, since it is a bit late in the year to plant something
