Jumping and stairs are only for you, not boats or minecarts. Those require boosters now (which are even more expensive than minecart tracks).

When it comes to boats, you're just fucked now. May as well break it to start over.

But elevator boats just don't make any sense. They're neat, no doubt, but if you take a boat into a waterfall you're not supposed to rocket up into the air and achieve orbit. You'll sink as you take on water.

I haven't made any booster rails myself yet, but I'll assume it's 16 tracks like the iron tracks. 6 bars of gold sucks pretty hard, but you don't need as many booster tracks as normal tracks unless you're going straight up. Even then, going up by foot is probably not only faster, but free.
