No, he hasn't been dead for awhile.

Yesterday afternoon or so, a Helicopter crashed into a Pakistan-occupied base, a considerable distance from Bin Laden's mountain fortress:

He was not among the occupants, during the ruckus, he emerged from within the base and was gunned down by multiple US troops.

His death will not slow terrorism. Probably the opposite effect. His supporters will be bolstered by his death. But so will our troops. Finally having brought justice after so long will renew their resolve and pride. A lot of families will have peace now knowing that the man behind the attacks that killed their loved ones was brought to justice.

For those that don't mind a little humor, I found this hilarious:

My current favorite status is from a friend of a friend:

"Osama bin Laden: World Champion of hide-and-seek, 2001-2011"

Also, I thought this one was good, too:

"Human death is never a good thing. Necessary, maybe, but it will never be anything I'll ever party about."

It's good that we got him, but unfortunately, it won't bring back the 9/11 victims, and there will definitely be some sort of retaliation.

Still, this will probably massively boost troop morale.

Chants of “Second term! Second term!” were heard outside the White House last night, where thousands gathered after Obama’s speech. Many people wore 2008 Hope/Change t-shirts, and some yelled out Obama’s name followed by the Charlie Sheen phrase “#Winning!”

Second term, yeah. The election that got decided over a year in advance.

Also, republicans lose the house again.

I sure hope not. I like Obama and everything, but winning it because he killed a guy? Not good politics.

Wikileaks: We're in for the big (nuclear) one

Recently-released WikiLeaks documents show that detained al Qaeda members have predicted nuclear reprisals if Osama bin Laden were captured or killed.

The classified Defense Department files, obtained from detainee interviews at the Guantanamo Bay prison, were released by the document-sharing Web site a week before the raid in Pakistan that resulted in bin Laden's demise.

Abu al-Libi, al Qaeda's third in command and "operational chief" before he was captured in 2005, reportedly said the nuclear device was "located in Europe" and would be used in retaliation over bin Laden's death, according to the leaked files. The phrase "nuclear hellstorm" appears in the Defense Department's dossier on Khalid Shaykh Muhammad, who allegedly confessed to masterminding the September 11 attacks and will be tried by a military tribunal.

Another detainee, Sharif al-Masri, reportedly said that if al Qaeda was able to move the bomb to the United States, they would be able to find operatives of Europeans of Arab or Asian descent to use it. He said, the records show, if bin Laden "were to be captured or killed, the bomb would be detonated in the US" and that al-Libi "would be one of those able to give the order."

Yeah ... I kind of wish India would nuke Pakistan (and Afghanistan) already.

I hope they give us fair warning, I'd rather have our soldiers out of there before the hell breaks loose.

Hopefully, most of that article is just posturing and/or wishful thinking on the part of the al Qaeda operatives in question...

Though wishing for the nuclear destruction of a nation of 170 million is a bit extreme.

Fixed that for you.

But yeah, I really hope this is just a wish. Because if they somehow manage to pull it off...

@Gabu: Imajin was referring to my extreme proposition of India nuking Pakistan (I think)

I admit it's extreme but eh... Most of them also probably want to nuke us. If anything, environmental arguments are more likely to convince me against it.

So it's okay to nuke a country based on extremist groups?

I'm sorry but, would you kindly think before you make such statements? Nuking them would be as bad, if not worse than anything they could pull off. :/

Eh, I was mostly referring to this article I had just read (which I realized I didn't quote) ...

I was never advocating we nuke them ... but if a war between India and Pakistan breaks out, I'm rooting for India to nuke them first. (hence why I mentioned India and not us, on my original post)

Also, I realize we have troops in the area, so I obviously do not really want us to just bomb the place.
