Okay, lets say that you meet someone. The two of you are together for a while. Fall in love. Five or so years later, you find out that he/she is a robot. What do you do/how do you feel?

Okay, how the hell did the conversation drop to this level? :\

But I'm pretty confident that if you had the fully-functional catgirl robots available for this kind of stuff, people would be all over them. Their preference is that it would come in the human variety.

About the same with those depressed that they couldn't find a girl because they just weren't that lucky or the ones they met sucked in terms of attitude; it's an alternative.

Let's just say that happened though, even if it happened to only a quarter of the population at best (which would REALLY be pushing it)...how would that affect the ACTUAL opposite sex? I would kind of wonder if people are going to feel pathetic in comparison that a robot that could probably do something leaps and bounds better than they ever could. That in turn would lead to one heck of a social bender of gigantic proportions after a good 20 years or so.

If nothing else, that might've just fixed the population problem...unless robot children are...

Knowing how people have melded to the things on the internet, this article doesn't seem so strange to me. As a pro-human advocate, though, I cannot help but think its only good possibility is population control. Otherwise it is pretty much useless. Actually I can see people going for the robot catgirls (m/f) much faster than regular-looking robot girls.

It's called the Uncanny Valley and it made me realise why Data and Mega Man look the way they do: Data's pale skin and golden eyes, and Mega Man's typical huge boots give away their non-humanity so when you make any sort of contact with them, you know not to expect... "perfect" humanity.

Robot cat girls would have the ears and stuff to tell them apart. Which brings me full circle: Persocons are also easily picked out of a crowd by their ears.

Population is not a problem. A coupla years ago, some observant person noticed that if you were to take every person on the planet, and pretend that they were all in families of four, they would all be able to have their own house and a decent-sized plot of land without even using up the amount of land space available in the state of Texas. Let alone multi-floor apartment buildings.
