Windows XP ships with support for those helpers, because Microsoft intended them to become widespread on the Internet. The problem is that they need ActiveX, and thus Internet Explorer, so it was a total failure (I haven't seen a site other than Microsoft itself which actually *uses* that functionality).

I managed to find an old copy of Bonzi Buddy but it only has Peedy. I can't find the purple gorilla bear thing. I do remember it existing on my grandparents' old computer for some reason; they were running Windows 95 on a 486 (in 2002.)

Oh, that's so cool. I'm totally the inverse of that. I used to enable the assistants on every computer I could, including my karate teacher's and he was never able to remove it. That was pretty hilarious.
