I felt like some of you may be interested

According to our sources, the new Nintendo controller will feature dual analog sticks in addition to standard d-pad and trigger buttons. It'll mirror a Gamecube controller in general function but not in specific form.

French website 01.net has published additional details (via Develop), that say the touch capable screen on the controller is 6 inches in size, but we were unable to confirm the accuracy of the report. Additional details about the console's hardware specs could also not be confirmed.

Players will actually be able to stream game content to the controller screen from the console. It's unclear at this time what type of content it will be, whether it's full games you can take with you on the go, mini-games or applications.


I guess we'll have to wait till E3 (which is not that far away!)

The big issue I potentially see with a touch screen on a controller is that unlike the 3/DS, where you're looking at the screen and the action is taking place there (or on the very nearby top screen), on a console the action is taking place on the screen, away from the potential touch screen... but Nintendo is usually pretty good with implementing non-standard control methods.

Really though this kind of rumor doesn't seem like too much to go by... mysterious sources and mysterious French websites.

I'm so tired of the PX360WiiS3 generation. It's good to see Nintendo is back at it. The controller idea is too damn awesome. I also saw this on vg247:
According to 01.net, the console specs include a custom IBM PowerPC CPU with three cores, a GPU from the ATI R700 family, a version 4.1 shader unit, and at least 512 Mb of RAM.


I expected a bit more than an R700, but I'll survive.

But yeah, it's about time nintendo gets their shit right other then handhelds, I don't care what people say the wii was a let down for me.

Eh, I'm not putting any faith in it, nor am I getting hyped up. Having (HD?) screens on the controller sounds pretty odd, but if Nintendo really is planning something like this, they'll be the ones to make it work right.


Besides, it's not the resolution of the screen, but how you use it that counts.

What about project butterfly? Surprised no one mentioned that yet. I wouldn't get high hopes for it, but you gotta admit it's cool to think about. Nintendo would own gaming forever. I can live with that.

This is U.S.A. dates. Because that's how I roll.

It's worth pointing out that Rockstar is currently working on GTA V for the new console.

As much as I don't care about GTA, this is pretty awesome news.

They've confirmed the console exists, but that's all they're saying until E3. It's also looking likely that "Cafe" is indeed the code name, especially if you try and poke around Wario World.

More rumors!

So we have:

*Stronger than PS3 and 360
*$350-$400 launch price
*Could be released as early as this Winter
*Would resemble an SNES
*1080p and (potentially) stereoscopic 3D support

The price killed me. Too bad ... I'm estimating it'll take me a few months to make the money for the 3DS... No way I'd be able to afford this. They should delay it till Summer 2012
