This has a variety of causes, but in this case, somebody posted in the forum and then deleted it before you could read it.

As I recall, this can also happen when a thread is moved to a different forum when there hasn't been any new posts in it.

The solution is to enter the forum and click the "Mark forum read" link on the top of the page.
