Makes sense to me. Too heavy and the swing speed is low, too light and the sense of control is gone.

Though, I don't think I've tried anything sport-wise in well over a year...

Well, I was referring to carrying something heavy, dropping it and then trying to catch it in mid-air. Usually doesn't end well

Hitting people with bats is far more effective.

I'm reminded of the time when I played baseball in either middle school or elementary school (my memory is bad)... one year, the closest I came to getting a hit was when the pitcher threw the ball so poorly, it ended up hitting the bat. Without me swinging.

I was always pretty decent at sports. Dropping baseball is something I regret. I made one hell of a good outfielder.

Never really freaked out about baseballs flying past my face. Took a while to get used to the similar sensation of a saber hitting your mask in fencing, though.

I have taken bats, baseballs, basketballs, kick-balls, water polo balls, fists, feet, and several different walls to various parts of my face and skull. I think it was a good thing i took up running instead of other sports...
