I hope it's okay to post a download link.

The earliest prototype is from Aug 4, 1995 while there's a later one from Oct 4, 1995.

I'm very curious to what the differences are. I wonder if there's any debug stuff, like the Resident Evil 2 prototypes that are out there?

The most obvious difference I see is they both use different, more basic renders for all the background images. Less complex lighting, different pictures on the walls and more compression artifacts.
I'm gonna try taking some comparison screenshots, though ideally I (or someone else who actually knows what they're doing) will try getting the images directly off the disc.

Okay, I've been poking around in the first prototype with PSicture aaand it looks like the room images are going to be a complete bitch to piece together T-T. Shoulda known with the foreground and background and all...
There's room data for way more rooms then are actually accessible though, you could probably gameshark your way past all the locked doors.

Also interestingly there's some eearrrlllyyy images for the inventory menu, which hasn't actually been implemented in the first prototype. PSicture hasn't quite read them properly, so you'll have to put up with green glitchiness for now.

From the earlier prototype:

From the later one:

Now, notice that there are four portraits in the earlier one...

Not sure about this, but do any voices play in the later prototype? I thought it was some kind of emulation issue.

Either way, I noticed that there is a .XAS file for the voices in the later prototype. I tried to get something out of them with PSound but I couldn't. If voices are really turned off in this prototype, it might be interesting to see what's in there.

From what I've heard, there are two other prototypes out there in the hands of collectors that have debugging stuff enabled. There used to be an even older prototype where there was a cooperative mode in the game (as seen by the unused graphics from the earlier build above). From what I've also heard, there exist Gameshark codes for both of these prototypes (when the prototypes were still privately circulating) but I haven't seen them yet.

Thanks for the translations GlitterBerri! Most of those menu options look like remenants for some kind of npc companion system =D.

I'd definitely want to see if it's possible to grab the voices, it could even be the original Japanese voice acting that got cut O:.

Who wants another Biohazard 1 prototype? How about one with a full working debug?

Also not fake. Check this thread for some of the discoveries some people are making with all these prototypes.

The first and 3rd portraits look like Chris and Jill, and the second one looks like a different Chris. No clue who the 2nd one is . I suppose they could be just the 4 main cast members.
