I took some classes in Germany, and there, the final usually counts for most or all of the grade.

I'm not a fan of that, really. I think that instead of focusing so much on big exams at the end of the class, all at the same time and stressing everyone out, more weight should be given to homework, other smaller tests, and (if applicable) papers and projects.

In our science classes, we have an evaluative exam, quantitative exam and a qualitative exam, which counts towards a percentage of our grade. Then we have coursework, which also counts, then the AS exams at the end of the year.

For Ethics, I think it's just two exams... back to back... without a break... for three hours...
