FF4 on OS X is fine since it still uses a sane UI. Rambly pointed me to an extension to give me a normal status bar, too, so it's pretty much the same.

Launch times are still slow, but the browser is noticeably faster when actually running. The extra CSS3/HTML5 support is nice too as is the fact that the thing is now a universal 64-bit binary. 348MB with a livestream playing in another tab as I type this, and some extensions (noscript, ABP, greasemonkey, firebug) loaded.

after screwing around with the settings for a moment
I got everything back to where I can find it

now the only thing is TRANSPARENCY EVERYWHERE

e: also woah this tab grouping thing is great

#58
It looks about the same as Firefox 3.5 for me (after getting the status bar back), but without Classic Compact for now, so it ends up being less compact than before

It doesn't really feel faster (barely if at all), but that might be because I'm on Windows XP with no 2D acceleration

430ish MB here with 9 tabs open.

It works great for me, but I'm using the preview build with x64 stuff. Until they make an official x64 release, I'm gonna keep living on the edge. It certainly is fast here.

I honestly thought I was going to be totally done with Firefox after switching to Chrome, at least in Linux.

But now these new builds look pretty promising. I've been hearing a lot about hardware acceleration making pages load a lot faster (not that this isn't a feature already present in Chrome), so I think I might check it out!

(But probably not until it's out officially.)

I actually like the compactness of the interface so far. Nice to see more of the page. But I'll have to get used to where things are hidden in the interface.

I gave in and upgraded. I have to say, something about the browser feels a lot less smooth, maybe it's just me getting used to the UI changes, but it feels a little choppier than it was before.

xulrunner isn't in my repos yet and I don't want to build it from source right now. :T

I know how to make it look like normal Firefox, just go View -> Toolbars -> Add-on bar, then right click tabs and deselect 'tabs on top', and that should remove most of it...

Okay, I got it now~

I am absolutely loving this. It seems to be running so much faster than Chrome.

It's really nice. :J I'll see how I feel about it in a few days, though, before giving it a final approval.

Updated today.

So far, so good - although the UI change threw me for a loop. Too used to the old layout I guess.

You can restore the old layout, if you use the steps I noted.

I hate the new UI, but they let me restore the old look, so, I don't mind it anymore.

For me, the best part was how it was noticeably faster than 3.6 (which was fine for me) while still adding features. While Firefox may no longer be a "standout browser" or anything, it's showing it can keep up with the other browsers pretty well.

I'm really liking 4. Huge speed boost it feels like, the capability to pin "app tabs", and it just overall feels a ton more polished.

Loving the new UI too. I've always been a fan of titlebar tabs. I just wish I could use the old 3.6 Strata, but the new theme has grown on me.

Hoping for AnyColor to get updated soon, too...

I'm upgrading as soon as Linkification and Classic Compact get's upgraded.

Those are essential for me.

Edit: Linkification updated, only Classic Compact left!

Your post reminded me how much I miss Classic Compact on my laptop, so I did a bit of looking around. There's a beta version that works with FF4 here. Now I have a few more pixels!
