The Heart Attack Grill

I'm just posting this here because I wanted to have a serious thread.

So, the Heart Attack Grill has been taking quite the opposite stance on healthy food in restaurants. This opened, I believe, in 2005, and is still going strong with its amazingly fatty food and encouragement of unhealthy eating. All of their food is made to be just as fattening as possible, such as their "Flatliner Fries" that are fried in lard, to their butterfat milkshakes. Not only that, anyone who weighs in at over 350 lbs. eats for free.

If you go to the "Television" section, there's a news article on the restaurant too.

So, what do you think of this place?

I would actually try that single bypass burger and the fries. They look good. Too bad it's in Arizona.

According to Wikipedia, the quadruple bypass burger has 8,000 calories.

Which no sane human being should even THINK about consuming in one meal, much less any meal in a day.

That's literally four days worth of calories alone! I guess the owner is right when he was trying to create nutritional pornography.

Fatty food makes me sick before I can eat too much of it. I guess it's fine that it exists, since anyone foolish enough to eat there more than extremely rarely is asking to die anyway.

I liked those television specials, that's a pretty cute gimmick. I'm willing to bet the burgers aren't any good and just ride on the high-calorie ploy. I'll be near Dallas this summer, maybe I'll check it out, at least to see the kind of people who dine there.

If by "pornography" you mean completely disgusting and unrealistic and just ends up making you regret it afterwards, then I guess he succeeded

Just looking at that website made me feel sick. The food doesn't even look good, it looks gross. Who in their right mind would ever consume something like that, or worse, actually believe that stupid marketing? Everything about it is so jokey and gimmicky that I can't even believe it exists. The whole site looks like a joke that the Onion would put out or something. I guess if people are stupid enough to kill themselves though, go right ahead, but who on Earth thought it was their purpose in life to make a living off of encouraging stupid people to kill themselves? I never want to meet the people who run this place because they have to be sick sad human beings. Unless they actually believe the marketing/eat the food too then they are just as dumb as every one else.

I would not mind eating there if it tasted good... but too much fat makes things taste really bad.

Um, wow.

Those burgers actually look kind of...unappetizing. Not just because of the fat content, either--they look like they're made of plastic. :/

Considering I like eating protein-rich/fat-rich food (to an extent, though), I'm not surprised I'm feeling extra saliva in my mouth all of a sudden.

I'll agree with you in that the food looks gross and potentially harmful, but the same could be said about, for example, alcohol, and I'd be willing to bet that people are far more likely to die as a direct result of getting drunk than eating a meal at this place.

Despite that, though, I don't consider people who drink to be idiots with a death wish, nor do I consider brewers to be "sick and sad human beings" just because they make a living off of such a potentially harmful substance.

Most people who drink are well aware of the risks, but they consider the pleasure they get from drinking to be worth the risk. Ideally, nobody should take unnecessary risks in the name of pleasure, but people here (almost) have a right to do whatever they want to their own bodies as long as they don't directly affect other people, so whether you're a drinker, a smoker, a masochist, an adrenaline junkie, or somebody who loves eating fatty food, you're free to continue what you love doing as far as I'm concerned.

Sure, such people all do dangerous things, but that doesn't mean that they are all without caution. In fact, I suspect that most people who do such things are typically cautious, as they would otherwise be dead or quickly on their way. As such, I doubt that most people who eat this food are "stupid enough to kill themselves" either, and I suspect that very few eat there on a regular basis.

The whole "Taste worth dying for!" thing is just a gimmick to attract attention. I hardly think that the people who run this place are seriously out to kill people with calories and/or promote obesity.

The only thing I find particularly questionable about this is the whole "be over 350 pounds and eat for free" thing, but somehow, I suspect that this isn't taken advantage of very often.

Of course. Everyone attacks it, even though you *know* you'd get full before you could ever finish what anyone over 350 pounds could.

Look if anyone is dumb enough or crazy enough to eat themselves to death, let them. There's some really fascist health experts out there as it is.
<--- No, I'm not 350 pounds. Look at that gorgeous masked man.

Thank you. Though the only problem I have with people eating fatty food is the fact that the food they're eating could keeps two or three other people from starving, and from that one thread I posted earlier, if it means having to quit meat so we could reach the potential of feeding everyone adequately enough, I'd reluctantly do it.

Reluctantly because goddamn do I love meat.

Another thing that I just remembered too.

Their last spokesperson fro the restaurant passed away recently at 29. It was due to a pneumonia I believe, but the man was still 575 lbs. I'm not sure if this adds anything to anything, but I figured I'd throw it out anyway as food for thought.

...No pun intended.
