Optimine is something I use because my computer is made of sticks and mud. Outside of that, the only mod I really use with frequency is TooManyItems, partly for the right click feature I talked about earlier, and for the trash button. I don't really use it to give myself blocks or items, though I will just give myself water blocks if I'm creating a farm and don't want to waste an hour going back and forth between the water and my house.
I did recently start a "hardmode" world the other day, where Extended 2x2 Grid and Mo' Creatures are installed. Holy shit, the first night is brutal, because you have to punch leaves for saplings to convert to sticks before you can get your first axe. Punching trees no longer works (or at least it's not supposed to, a friend says it does).
Also, I learned a valuable lesson the other day: When finding a place to build a house, don't build it in a place like
this. An ogre popped up out of nowhere, wrecked my wall to bits and smashed my floor out. D:
