It uses a set icon that is recognized by the video camera to add 3D objects to a real video stream. Pretty cool stuff.

Also on the same subject, you'll be able to use your Android Smartphone for these instead of having to keep all of them with you. It would work on the iPhone as well, I'm assuming. If there isn't an app specifically for it then you could just take a picture of it and save it to your phone.
