That was incredibly cute and informitave. That probably makes it a little easier to understand than what the news is telling us. (It'll also help the children.) ____________________ I'm out of town Friday, Saturday and most of Sunday. |

To quote someone on another forum about that video:
Also, I found this pretty neat and also pretty sad at the same time. This is impossible in the USA even in times of crisis due to the sheer fuckton of paperwork one has to go through to even get halfway to a roadwork permit. Yet here the Japanese are, being efficient workers and saying "Let's get this done." ____________________

| At one point the night of the quake I heard it was 9.1 then it changed to whatever then it changed again and again.
So I don not know what to believe any more. ____________________ QWERTYBOARD |

Originally posted by Terra I wouldn't worry about the West Coast having earthquakes like this. The West Coast is located on a minor fault line so it is no way in danger of such a massive earthquake. Japan however is located on the Ring of Fire fault line which means they are in great danger of massive earthquakes all the time. On the bright side if this happened to any other country the damage would have been much worse. Japan is incredibly prepared for natural disasters like this. Nearly all their skyscrapers are specifically designed to withstand earthquakes and other potential disasters. They have a National Holiday for disaster preparedness. There are too many things to count that they had going for them. That and the situation with the reactors will most likely be resolved soon due the heroism and sense of duty of those plant workers. If anything we should be keeping them foremost in our thoughts because they are giving their lives for their countrymen. What they are doing is a testament to the endurance of the human spirit in times of hardship because when times get rough all we have is each other. |

Originally posted by Friendbot2000 Japan is possibly the most seismically active place in the world, it is true... but the Pacific Ring of Fire gets its name from being a Ring, and so the other side of that circle is in fact the West Coast of the Americas... ____________________ |
