Mice? Back at my elementary school, we didn't have such a thing. We just had dot-matrix printers and Apple ][es. And we fought over who could play Oregon Trail.

I think we had mice as well in our library computer lab. But we usually spent most our time playing old edutainment DOS games. I can't remember what one was called but we played it a lot.

I believe it was made by Broderbund, as a matter of fact. Not the obvious games made by them, but other games.

We never had DOS games to play because my school district was one of those that was all totally Mac. We did, however, have an "open source software" machine that ran Ubuntu in our high school computer labs though!

I remember playing CGA-based geography games in sixth grade. On 5.25" floppies.

Fun times.

I never did figure out what those balls inside of the mice were for. Hmm....

I remember playing Crystal Quest at my school, and really sucking at it. Actually, I sucked at most games back then/now.

I remember playing such games in Computer class as Dr. Quandry, Museum Madness, Word Munchers, Where in the U.S.A. is Carmen Sandiego, and some spin off of the Word Munchers game that used math and had you playing as the Word Muncher's dog or something.

I remember Number Munchers in elementary school. Also, Mario Teaches Typing.

The schools in Michigan mostly had those things where you do schoolwork on the computer, though. "Computer Curriculum" or something. Kind of a dull thing for a computer class.

Best was when our high school first got the Internet.

I could swear it was running off a 2400 baud modem for the first several weeks.

Oh man, apparently there was a class in my high school that had a onetime class project where they vandalized Wikipedia as a way of demonstrating how unreliable it was. It was totally not cool.

Well of course it's unreliable! Those projects are ruining it!

Also I know that I should look for references for any facts listed and go from there and not take 'HE IS A POOPOO HEAD AND A TURTLE' as a fact for Leonardo DaVinci.

I pointed out you can easily link to a specific revision anyway, so you can reference nice, clean pages unaffected by "projects".

I bet the teacher was not amused by that?

Also I do not know Spanish anymore and I discovered that I have to use it in a comic. What does 'Welcome to Saturday night soccer' translate to? I know the individual words, but not the placement, etc.

My Student Teacher got a chance to teach the class today, We were doing class research, she googled Robert Louis Stevenson, and clicked on Wikipedia. I thought our full time teacher was going to have a stroke.

I will admit to having vandalized Wikipedia back in the day--never anything major but yeah.

(My favorite vandalization anywhere, though, was on the MSPA wiki where someone said Aradia faked her death as part of an insurance scam. It was fucking hilarious.)

Which is totally why in my class, anyone who uses Wikipedia as a source has to go back and find another source.

And what do you do if they come back with one of those sites that just copies Wikipedia's content, but are not technically Wikipedia?
