It's a shame trackballs died. I have to use one if it's a wired pointing device - I knock wired mice down.

Wireless for me.

The laptop even responds to the stroking of it's nipple.

Wait, trackballs died? Unless you mean something else entirely, they seem pretty alive and well.

They may still techincally continue to exist, but I haven't actually seen one in use for like ten years now.

I knew someone who swore by them, actually, and he used them until I think a year or two ago. I don't think I've ever personally used one. Apparently it isn't really proven to be more ergonomic than a mouse in a desk setting. You're kind of straining your thumb when you do this.

Just get a Tablet PC.

I kind of want one as well. The school I attended that ran Linux had one brand new and they let a few of us toy with it. Bloody amazing.

...Huh?

*Metal_Man88 reads this post while using a Trackman Wheel, and is plotting to buy another one... brand new... from Logitech... who still sells them...

I remember trying to fix my eyes by staring directly at the laser part of the mouse.

...I was not the brightest lad back then.

You're lucky that most optical mice use an LED and not an actual laser.

The mouse I'm using is the good ol'-fashioned ball mouse!

That's not going to fix your eyes either.

Laser eye surgery via mouse LED?

That's pretty hilarious.

I don't miss ball mice. How they'd get dirty and exhibit jerky motion. Ugh.

Give me an optical mouse any day

I haven't seen that behavior from my mouse at all. Or any of our home mice for that matter that had the ball.

School mice, on the other hand. X_X (then again I clean my mouse every month or so)

People at my elementary school used to take the balls off their mice and play with them and throw them.

I remember having to use arrow keys to move the cursor in elementary because somebody ruined all the ball mouses.
