Anonymity on the internet is practically dead. How do you inflict that? Multi-voting is enabled btw.

I show people pictures of myself. I don't have a mic or video camera, though

I also have no problems telling people my full name and city, although things like my address and phone number are only given out to a few trusted people, and forget about getting something like my SSN.

Paulguy's Post configuration
For individuals I only give addresses to for shipping, otherwise just photos and voice. No video. I look too weird for video.

I don't think there's a single photo of me on the internet, and i like it that way.

I don't really care if people know where i live, though. I mean, it's not like anybody is going to come here and.. do something.
EDIT: Well, obviously not the exact street name and stuff.

To most people on Jul, I'll only say the state and country I live in, although I think my first name is on here somewhere too. I'll tell trusted individuals things like my full name and the city I live in, and I don't have any qualms about showing them photos of myself or letting them hear my voice, although even very few of those know my cell phone number, and I won't tell anyone my street address.

I come from the web 1.0 days when people were taught to divulge nothing about themselves, and I still believe that's good practice in most cases.

The only place that has any sort of personal information on me (and that's just pictures of me) is Facebook, and I make sure to never, ever link my Facebook account from other websites.

When I joined I1 I was totally paranoid about my identity... I freaked out when Iggy called me by my first name. Though even then I didn't mind people knowing what town I was in. I've gotten better about that, I think... a lot of it is admittedly unjustified, but I'd still rather keep stuff like my last name private, and to my knowledge I've never posted a picture...

Though, as for the poll, I do have pictures of me online, but only on my Facebook account that is solely associated with my real name, not "Imajin"... (with fairly strict privacy settings) So those people already know what I look like.

I generally share my whereabouts and other thoughts via typing, but only in places that are fairly obscure from the rest of the Internet or on a friends only basis.

My Facebook picture is over a year old now, and my hair is about 3 inches longer there.

Uh, let's see.

No personal information, no videos of me, no pictures except for my avatars which are simply based on me... I refused to join MySpace, Facebook, not even Twitter.

I'd say just posting, talking to others and showing your personality is already removing some anonymity, especially in a community like this one. Then again, this doesn't seem like what you're asking about, so I guess I'll be the proud first to say I'm completely anonymous.

Look At My proflie pic, there is a reason it's a picture of shadow.

Although I have no problem with sharing my location, I guess I'm not worrried about IRL stalkers.

People aren't taught that anymore?

Facebook, Yahoo, all the services people use extol the virtues of telling everyone everything about you, down to the most personal things. And parents don't seem to stop their kids from going with it.

So no, they aren't.

I keep everything valuable hidden, leaving a few cryptic clues so as to let people be able to have some idea who I am.

My personal friends know a lot more, but of course, that's why they're my close friends, rather than me telling the whole internet everything.

this should be enough to answer this question

also I don't post things like address or phone numbers unless it is for shipping purposes and whatnot. everything else about me is there, but i don't garner enough attention to become harassed or anything.

I remember being weirded out when I saw someone have their cell phone # out for the public on their Facebook profile. Back during the old days, that was pretty much suicide.

I've shown two pictures of myself to people, but that's it. I keep the links to those photos hush-hush, too, because I'm not too keen on people knowing what I look like, but I still keep them up and online if I really need them for some reason.

I take my personal anonymity pretty seriously, as I've been the target of internet based harassment in the past. While I didn't enjoy it, maybe it's best it happened, as I had to ditch my old life and persona. Now I am who I really am, even if who I am is still kept under wraps to most people. I hope that makes sense...

Kinda.

I don't post personal information as well in the web, been more of an introvert the whole life. There is not much of me to be shown anyway, on the other I'm more into "offline" people, meaning you know them personally, but aside from sending an e-mail you just call or meet with them somewhere directly. The only social aspect on the web is maybe some Starcraft 1/2 online, but besides the usual "glhf" it's no virtual friendship or similar. On the other hand I love card games, going on concerts with people and such. Offline. Would like to change it, as there is definitively some benefit for all people (no ego trips), but things are not that easy usually.

Although there IS a Facebook account, due to my (female) cousin, putting images of her work she does, I didn't use it for personal use yet.

I used to be all completely "NO! If I share my information online, internet stalkers will rape and kill me!"

Now my worst enemy is people who I don't want to be around IRL, so I don't care too much about sharing info about me and everything.

I keep my address and home phone number private, but I'm pretty open with other info. And I do give my mailing address to close friends, but it's different from my street address so yeah. (FUCK YEAH P.O. BOXES)
