I've already been on the server by now, but I'll drop by and say thanks.

I've taken up residence on an island north of the Koholint Airport. The small dilapidated shack is mine; I've spent more time and effort on the bridge to the island it seems. I tend to disregard my own home and build other stuff a lot. >.>

The format looks simple, but I just want to do a quick and dirty "show off" world doing something like integrating the whole Metroid game map (which I have already all decoded somewhere), or recreate some of my Metroid Cubed voxelized blocks using Minecraft blocks as voxels.

I don't think so, but if you want, I can send you the sort-of-library I've made in java for my generator...

Thanks for the offer, I might get back to you if I don't find something simpler.

I'm not very familiar with the low level stuff in MC, but wouldn't there be a way to make some "batch file" that would put multiple blocks in a world one by one?

Something that would look like:

...
put block A0 at 10,200,143
put block A0 at 11,200,143
put block B2 at 12,250,144
...

I don't care if it's slow, but is this kind of thing possible?

Yeah, definitely. As long as the mcregion container format is documented (and it should be!), the chunk format has been fully documented. http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Beta_Level_Format will probably be a good starting point, but I haven't read it myself yet

I'm not sure, but maybe MCEdit supports importing builds? I know I saw an 'import' option on there somewhere.

(EDIT: yes it does have an import option! Except it requires a specific format so I am seeing how it does it for you~
EDIT2: Well, if you can do hex code it should be easy, but I am unsure if there's another way to read it. But it should be able to open your old regions so you could export schematics and import them into a new mcregion!)

(Another EDIT:
PONIES
I have too much time.)

I didn't actually pay attention to my location when I started, I noticed halfway through the work that it was right behind the store. If Sukasa can move it elsewhere I'm totally chill with that.

Anyone with Op status can move it using WorldEdit.

I need to go see this structure in person.

Maybe I'll do it real quick tomorrow if you're on, RD.

assuming it's still in the same place, it should also be behind your house, Rick.

Anyone can take a gander if they want. Don't need me to be a guide

( The wooden building next to Eppy's is yours? )

Nope. I just have a cave house in my store between the spawn area and Eppy's. It's riiiiight after you cross the bridge. Take a left before you go up the stairs.

...Shit, I totally forgot those existed in real life. That'd be kinda cool to put into Minecraft actually. Could work the same way as cake!

I used the password checker. Apparently 'lol' has had their password taken. It only took me three name guesses to find an infected user.

Aye, thanks for the heads up. I checked myself, not on the list, so that's all good at least.
