As seen here.
I am not really sure what to make of this. It almost seems as if the proponents of the legislation WANT to have their careers ruined... |

Sorry, but once you get involved in Tea Parties, you lose the right to refer to other people as "foolish".

Oh, come on. You're just pissed off that some people aren't Republican and you're trying to take away their voting rights. Reminds me of Jim Crow laws designed to prevent Blacks in the South from voting
I once again fear for the future of this country. The extremists are taking over. ____________________

Yes, because those that don't try to get college education can surely vote better than those who do.
Wait what?

I live with some pretty hardcore conservatives. When they heard about this they couldn't believe it either. They were actually angry about "another stupid Tea Party lunatic ruining any credibility [that Republicans] had left," to quote one of them.
Seriously, this is just stupid. Stupid, stupid, stupid, stuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuupid.

Let's take away the ability for religious people to vote! They just vote on what their Pastor tells them to! It's all "belief," no thought! :specialed:
Man, it's not very hard to reflect this bullshit. ____________________ |

| ...wut. If they want to ban college students, does that mean they want to ban High School students, too? How about artists? THEY are a pretty touchy-feely group! Or how about the rich? They have much less life experience than those who have had to work everyday! |

I'm sorry, but they do have a point. College students *are* foolish. (it's not that they voted for Obama, I have no qualm with that. It's *why* and under what pretext they did.)
Unfortunately, this is way too desperate a tactic, and should be removed entirely.

Though the point with a democratic system is that everyone gets a vote.
Sure, you can limit voting to only people who knows just about everything they are voting on, but then it would not be a democratic system.
I would also argue that students are not more foolish then anyone else, at least not when it comes to voting. Yes, they lack life experience, but they are still part of the community, and therefor should have equal right as every other person to get a vote. There is also a huge group of people that vote on something simple as their parents vote for it, as they did not put a thought into what they want for themselves, and this is in all age groups, should those people not be allowed to vote either? ____________________ |

You people under 30 are foolish. Time to remove your voting privileges! We only want good REPUBLICAN votes, ya hear?

 | Why do they assume that the only foolish uneducated people are college students?
Granted, I'm sure some college students are, but that doesn't mean anything because foolish uneducated people exist in ALL voting groups no matter what your age is, what you school level is, what your party is, or what your beliefs are. To make a broad generalization and logical fallacy like that is just blatant stereotyping that hopefully won't hold up once people with brains examine it for what it is. That's just as bad as saying women should be denied the right to vote because they just vote whatever their husbands tell them to.
Plus, if their only argument is that college students lack "life experience" then why are they only targeting college students and not the entire AGE GROUP. You MIGHT be able to make that work if you were targeting all people under 30, but to claim that a 24 year old who lives in his mother's basement, makes nothing of his life, and doesn't attend college has the right to vote while the 24 year old girlfriend who's supporting his lazy ass while trying to do something with her life and attending college "lacks life experience" is just stupid. Granted some people without college education may have more life experience that those who attend college, and vise versa, but again, that is besides the point. Plus if you really want to stereotype since that is all this thing is based off of, I was under the impression that college students typically have MORE life experience that those of the the same age who do not attend college, but whatever.
So yeah this is bullshit. Now if they could somehow pass something that would restrict all uneducated and foolish people from voting that would be awesome, but unfortunately we don't live in a perfect world so there is no way that could ever realistically be implemented. I mean hell, they can't even restrict uneducated and foolish people from trying to pass voting legislation

What they should have said was not "ban college students from voting", but "encourage educated voting".
