I've been sitting in the back in a normal-style classroom. Otherwise, I sit near the front, particularly near the door if I can. :I

I never did mind sitting at the front. I didn't choose it specifically though. If I was assigned to a front desk or thats what was left, I just went with it. I usually selected the back area more so I could slack off without being noticed.

I sit in the front because, more often than not, people who don't care sit towards the back. I want to be as far away from them (they who constantly text/talk/etc) as possible.

Also, I feel like the professor gets to know my face better, so if/when I go in for help (especially in big classes), they already have an idea of who I am

Of course, the problem with this is that I have little to no idea of who is actually in my class, aside from the person on my left and right

I have no idea why I missed this, but that is pretty much it exactly. And the people who prefer to sit in the back? They're 95% black for some ironic reason.

This is me exactly.

Also lets me check something if need be without feeling like someone is going to chew into me for it.

There was one class in which I was moved from the back to near the front, and I immediately started to become the target for people to throw wadded-up pieces of paper at

If you're good at... erm... "influencing"... the teacher a bit, the front seat can be advantageous.

Also, since all the bad boys prefer the back, the front is usually a quiet place to work at.

And yeah advantages in being next to the teacher and whatnot. Disadvantage though regarding procastination, but at least that forced me to do my homework for a several days after it was due (as opposed to never).

One time the classroom had a quite awkward shape, so I was in an isolated corner at the back next to a window with two friends.
... I miss those days...

In boring lecture classes that waste my time and money, I sit in the back so that I can kill time on my phone or computer. This is what's happening right now!!!

Listen up, your professor is going to say something important in 3 minutes.

Before I had glasses, I'd frequently find myself walking up to the board to copy down homework problems and whatnot. I got my glasses in 7th grade and I was rather amazed at how well I could see

I almost always sat in the back unless I had friends sitting somewhere else or I felt like being show-offy and stuff.

Oh, funny story. In 10th grade, I had this math teacher who thought I wasn't paying enough attention in class and wanted to take me away from my friends so he planted me in this spot right in front of his desk, but somehow it also managed to be in his blind spot... So whenever he saw me in the halls he'd keep asking me if I showed up in class.

My teachers would usually move troublesome students to the back of the room. I guess they didn't want to have to deal with them

In high school I'd always sit in one of the rear left corners, because that was the only place I could be relatively safe from having things thrown at me.
In college, I used to sit near an electrical outlet to run my laptop, but that laptop's been broken for ages and I've never bothered to fix it, so now I just sit anywhere. Usually near the front just so I can hear because my hearing kinda sucks.
