Well, I can see the whole formulaic thing for some, but for the kind of church I go to, things tend to be much more dynamic. Basically nothing is pre-planned, which is what I've seen in many of organized church gatherings.

I suppose what I'm trying to say is that I'm most comfortable in the kind of church environment where people are free to shout and testify whenever they feel hit by the spirit to do so. It also helps that it's always a small church where everyone seems to know each other. That's just how they tend to go with Southern Missionary Baptist Churches that came out of Tennessee...

Eh, that's my comfort level, though. Everyone will feel different...

Okay, as far as my official religious status goes, as of two years ago I'm a confirmed Catholic, although my beliefs fall well outside those boundaries. Not very religious, as in I don't go to church, etc, but I tend to get into religious debates sometimes with friends of mine, who are even less religious than I am, and we all usually come to a consensus at the end, which is why some of my beliefs are so out there.

First of all, as far as humans go I believe in a combination of creationism and evolution, we cannot dispute evolution, it's proven, but I'm thinking that God influenced evolution in a way that would result in humans. Otherwise, if you look back, we'd have probably had more than one group of life at our intelligence, or likely higher, by now.

When looking at the universe at large, I run into a problem with the Big Bang theory, as it presents the problem of "Where did all that matter come from?" Which I answer with God, but of course, that leads to "Where did God come from?" So I'm not exactly set there.

Finally, the consensus after a discussion on fate, there is both fate and free will. This works, because if you think about it, everything is caused by something else, an infinite chain of reactions. You can make decisions, but the way you act is predetermined by a number of factors, including your upbringing, where you were born, your personality, etc. In the exact same situation(I mean the exact same, nothing being different at all), you'd make the same choice every time, correct? I don't think I explained this entirely properly, but I think I got the idea across.

Aquinas' first cause argument can't be used to prove the existence of a god (or anything else.) If something can be its' own cause, it might as well be anything than what we call "god". If nothing can be its own first cause, then you run into a paradox. Reason cannot, as of yet, be used to prove the existence of god.
