I always found Western-style RPGs a lot more confusing. Yeah, they tend to be more free, but for me that tends to result in "What the fuck should I do now?".

I'm a strange creature that actually LIKED the combat in Baldur's Gate 1, so it shouldn't be a surprise that I also have other strange opinions, like thinking the FF games are too boring and dependent on grinding.

I've been so inundated by MMORPGs and how vast they can be that playing a linear game without an open world to explore is really difficult for me. Thats why I stick to fighters or racing games. I want to get Gran Turismo 5 but with it I also want the Logitech G27 steering wheel. I'm still waiting for Square Enix to release FFTactics for iPhone. They confirmed it will be this Spring... probably 2 days before summer more like it.

RPGs don't usually work with me because I totally hate level grinding.

Shooters, well...hit and miss. It depends on what the shooter is.

I've done the level grind in so many games its not even funny.

Final Fantasy 2US, 7, 8, 9, 11, Tactics, Tactics Advance
Everquest (3 characters)
Star Wars Galaxies (2 characters)
Lineage II (beta, got pretty high)
Planetside (numerous new characters)
World of Warcraft (at least 10 characters above level 20, 4 at level 70, 2 at 85)
Everquest II (tried it for a few days)

Yeah, thats a lot of levels if all added up.
