Hey, guys this is my hack, entitled NES MARIO 64 PROTOTYPE.
I made this hack beacause this forum need a good nes mario 64 hack.
It's also just good practice with the Tile Molester, but anyway this hack
is similar to the one that I posted on the "Post your mods, youtube videos and patches here" thread except a lot better. I've finally finished Bob-omb's Battlefield
and the icons at the top of the screen as well as the NES mario style letters & numbers. I'd rather not post any pics so as not to ruin the surprise, But you will
not be sorry for playing this hack, I can assure you. I've had very good feed back on it.

Also PLEASE report any bugs, comments, or suggestions here.

Screenshots are a requirement for showing hacks, I believe...

Nevum, you did already post screenshots in the mod section; did you not? I am trying it, since I enjoyed your first version.

Sounds nice, but there was another NES mod that I,ve seen on youtube which was much more deeper. Here's the link.

Oh, yes this is the original. No patches have been released for it. Might anyone; by chance; know where to get the mod, if it is out there? Also, Nevum how did you edit those hud items so deeply (Lives, Health, Stars, etc.)? Did you use Tile Molester? Or is there another good tile editor out there?

Yes, I must admit, I stole the idea from that video... BUT, I was the only one who released a patch.

To answer your question, DR Vorton, I did use Tile Molester and, i might add, I worked like a dog on it. Tile Molester is extremely hard to use if you don't know how, but practice makes perfect!

Wow, when I used Tile Molester, the HUD Icons came out to be very pixely. Yours came out very clear. Those textures; along with some others; were VERY HARD to find! I should test some more with those things.

[17:44:07] <jamosup> you do realize
[17:44:12] <jamosup> that it is a stolen idea
[17:44:17] <jamosup> from injured2day

Hmm, a stolen idea. Now that's original.

Well if you want my opinion about this...

Putting SMB NES textures in SM64 is just an obvious thing that almost everyone that hacked textures in the game thought about. It's pretty ridiculous to claim that anyone in particular "invented" this concept.

injured2day was just lucky enough to get on the front page of Digg, but others have did similar hacks before, including me.

This screenshot is from September 2005, two years ago:

Sure there's only the bricks and ? boxes textures, but the next step was obvious, and it was an obvious hack even before I did it. That's why I didn't say "OMG Stolen Idea!!!" when I saw injured2day's hack.

Since it's an obvious idea that anyone could have, instead of fighting to determine who did it first, we should judge these hacks on their implementation. Personally from what I've seen, I find that nevnum's version is better. injured2day's hack had a few rough edges.

I must say nevum, that you may have used the sticky thread for this hack.

Also, next time you post a hack, wait until you have screenshots, don't just add them after people asked. It's not like we could wait...

Edit: Fixed nevum's nickname

Thank you very much, VL-Tone.

I've just finished Whomp's Fortress, the update will be posted shortly...

BTW, VL-Tone, with all due respect, it is spelled "nevum" not "nevnum"

P.S. I love Montreal! It's the coolest city in the world! I visit it often.

Just a little feedback here nevum.
On the "Where the two points meet" star, you dont need the wing cap at all, you can just jump on the rotating platform at the bottom and walk up to the star.

Oh, I know.

The main reason of the wing cap being there in some stars is just for the sake of flying. When the wing cap is not there, it means that you do not need it to get the star and it's not cool to cheat with it.

But thank you for the feedback, NintendoMasters
