Paulguy's Post configuration TI N-spire is like, 200Mhz ARM. Doom was made to run on considerably weaker hardware, so it's not super impressive. Unfortunately that screen smearing is quite extreme, and would likely make the game unplayable ____________________ |

I've heard that TI is coming out with a color capable screen. It is supposed to be used to create diffferent colored graph lines, but I imagine that it could be used for gaming. ____________________ And... Post 350! |

Would it not be better (and possibly a lot cheaper) to just have a calculation software for smart phones?
I mean, really, those calculators are rather expensive and I can't imagine that such software can't be made. :/ ____________________ |

Originally posted by Karis Well, on the TI-8x front a lot of the customers are middle and high school children, and a $100 calculator is still cheaper than a smartphone. (and no monthly fee) The N-spire series are more expensive, but still if all you need to do is have a fancy calculator, the data plans and such attached to a smartphone are just overkill. ____________________ |

Post #4078 · 02-21-11 09:32:59 PM Calculators are a monopoly. You can find Game Boys for a buck, but the less powerful TI-83 still goes for $100+, because they're required by many school programs. And don't even try getting your teachers to let you use a cell phone in class "because it's a calculator".
They also tend to have very little graphic processing power and extremely slow refresh rates (on the order of 1FPS), because calculators aren't designed for games... ____________________ |

| I have to admit. All things considered, I am really impressed by that. Just getting it on there alone is a hell of a feat. Kudos to the person who did that. ____________________ |
