Oh, our rates are increased every year. But at least they're still the same across the board.

Montreal still has one of the cheapest fares in North America.

Fun fact, and I know this is kind of our of nowhere, but the term "gyped" is actually a racial slur, as is the term "Gypsy." The correct term is "Rom" in the singular, "Roma" in the plural, and "Romani" in the adjective form. Ther term "Gyp" comes from the horrible stereotype that all Romani people are lying, evil thieves, and is very similar to saying someone "Jew'd" you out of something.

What's the fare currently? I think I missed it.

100 brain cells was far too high of a price to pay for that.

I pay 3.50 to get to downtown Philly (involves taking a one hour long bus trip and the metro for 15 minutes).

I'm not sure about the D.C. buses, though. I have a smart card there and I don't usually pay attention to how much they're charging me.

$3 for a ticket, $72.75 for a monthly pass.

Hmm.

Our fares to the city are €2.40, a monthly pass is €76 (making it hardly any worthwhile to purchase). There is a reduced price for students though (€59.30).

Fun fact: the largest possible price is €2,340.00 for a yearly ticket across the state. You actually have to pay everything at once in bills.

I think I just learned why there's a 500€ bill in the Eurozone.

I remember debit cards and such being less likely to be accepted in Germany, but I just assumed it was because I had a foreign debit card I wouldn't feel secure carrying around that much cash, really.

Do note that the yearly tickets are not terribly popular. Besides needing to pay everything at once, you can only purchase them in central ticket stores and you also have to fill out a form etc. Compare that with monthly tickets which you can purchase in every bus, which is more convenient. (and the save on yearly tickets is not much and usually worthless because you have vacation anyway)

About cards, I also know that some stores here do not accept cards when you purchase too few things. It's too much work for them or something

I've never heard of places having a yearly pass before... that must be a niche market indeed.

I guess Boston's fares are actually pretty cheap by those kinds of standards. ($1.70/$2.00 for the subway, $1.25/$1.50 for the bus- the higher fare is if you don't have a smartcard)

Yeah, the base fare in Seattle for a bus is $2.25, although you get the return fare free if it's within 2-3 hours.

Hell, even Detroit charges $2 now, for one of the worst bus systems in the US.

That depends. If you're taking it 5 times a week, 2 times a day... that's 10 times, so €24.00. Around 40 times in a month... you're still saving.

I was just on the Bangor bus earlier today. The fare is still $1.25, with $5 for a strip of tickets, and $45 for a monthly pass.

The fare here is $1.25 to $1.50. It used to only be $1 for one of the buses, but they hiked it up a little.

She must have been at least 8 years old? Maybe more, not really sure. He has another cat who's like 13 or so and still seems to be doing well.

Interestingly, for a couple weeks before this, the other cat seemed to be unusually aggressive toward her. I wasn't there to see it, but I can't help but think he could tell something was odd...

She definitely lived a good life though, quite pampered.
