It should show up under the volume manager in administrative tools in control panel. I'm not sure if that's still in the same place in Vista/7 as in XP though.

Well you need to format it before Windows can assign a drive letter. It wont simply identify a filesystem it is unfamiliar with.

You could probably wipe it with some sort of *nix livedisc and then Windows will identify an unformatted drive then. (At least that's what it did to me when I was setting up a Windows/*buntu system.)

Just right-click it in the disk manager, and it should give the option to format the disk.

I tried that, but there is no format listed.

The other, more ugly option would be installing a Linux file system driver. No, it did not work for me either, but it made Windows assign a drive letter to the partition so you can do a simple format e: or similar.

Paulguy's Post configuration
If it's ext2-ifs, just set the installer to Windows XP compatibility mode. It works except for auto mounting, which you don't need anyway.

I can't even do that because it says it is not compatible with my OS.

Right click the installer and click properties, then go to the Compatibility tab.

Haha , It works now thanks, however I has to put the compatibility as Vista SP 2 to make it work.
