My family tried to start a collection of the 50 state quarters while they were coming out, but we kind of lost interest around Missouri...

I know how that feels. At one time or another, I was collecting either Beanie Babies, Pokemon cards, coins, video games or Gundam models. Now I'm collecting ammo, and it's probably the cheapest ($25 USD for a prototype British military cartridge that never, ever made it past the state arsenals? Hell yeah!) and easiest out of all of them.

I've actually got all 50 state quarters, but haven't bothered with those 2009 special quarters

Man I should totally get back into coin collecting just to get all of the state quarters. I have an old, old binder for those things that the US Mint made when they were starting that line.

Heh. I'd collect more things, myself, if I had the money...

I'm so glad to be home.

I thought there was a little leaf or something on the kitchen floor, so I flicked it with my toe. Turns out it was a silverfish, and I mortally wounded it. Poor thing.

I think we have most of the state quarters by now, but only a very few of the 2009-2011 quarters. It was more of passive collecting. Still though, getting some quarters were a total bitch, like that New Jersey one. Can't remember if it was the quarter from Denver or Philidelphia that took forever to get ahold of, but it took several years after the original minting before we finally got that. And we have three separate collections going.

And now there's the America the Beautiful quarter series that started in 2010 and may end in 2021 at the earliest. Latest, 2033.

Amazingly, this is how the treasury is making money. Somehow.

I once found a toonie (erm, $2 coin) on the ground. That's not an everyday occurrence. Normally it's pennies or dimes.

My internet has suddenly started running like crap... strangely, Jul seems to be doing a lot better than most other sites... (though I had to disconnect from IRC)

Wow, forgot all about these two-way FRS radios I found... anyone know if these require a license or not?

If you're referring to these, they're fine to use so long as they run on the FCC-approved channels at 500 mW or less.

Do you occasionally see a talking, anthropomorphic rabbit as well?

I probably don't find loonies/toonies because other people pick them up.

Plus if I go downtown... beggars have a sixth sense for those coins.

How would a beggar ask nicely for change?
