I've been using bukkit to do some minor LAN playing with friends. I am surprised the plugins I chose actually work, from what I heard before, bukkit was absolute junk. Also unlike on the Jul server I've not needed to use "/#" before commands at all.
I tried asking xk for an opinion of what to use previously but he didn't even reply. :T
If I can get another tower to use as a server I totally will, and will probably post the URL on here.
Meanwhile in SSP, I've been studying mob grinder design!

When Delpolo had talked about his laying-down-torches-and-crashing thing I had a link to the night version of the map which, yes, does auto-update over time. Not right after you make a change mind-you, more like a few times a day or so.
And if you don't like the night version, just remove the 'night' part of the link. Want caves? "mapqc"

Bukkit just added multiworld support, so there should be a plug in for near perfect nether support in multiplayer soon!

Despite surviving numerous creeper explosions unarmed, a creeper managed to lag-kill me in one hit through my full iron armor. All of my items were gone by the time I got back. All my tools and weapons, my 8 buckets and 64+ mossy cobblestone...

Yeah, is there a plugin too for not losing your items when you die?
I've kind of given up actually building anything or making any kind of item crafting since the mobs like to sneak up in groups and gangbang me when I'm not looking, since I just keep losing my crap and can't replace them.
What's the point in having hostile mobs if you keep everything when you die?
I agree, it sucks to lose everything to a rogue creeper (been there many times!), but those are the risks you take when you go exploring. It's part of the game.
(Though I do think creepers should disintegrate/turn passive in sunlight like the rest of the mobs, and have a much lower spawn rate. Something that destructive shouldn't be as common as zombies and skeletons.)

Most of the time I'm not even exploring or anything. I'm just around my area, die, and then try to get back and die again. When it happens repeatedly, it does take some of the fun out of the game. =/
I dunno, I guess I just have a different way of playing, I guess.
