I used to have an Irish flag somewhere, but I don't know what happened to it. I still have German, French, and Canadian flags. Oddly enough, no American flag even though that's where I live

I am not a flag person ...

Stupid colleges don't give us St. Valentine's off ... My boyfriend's birthday is this Saturday, the 12th! I could've spent the weekend with him, his birthday AND valentine's.

Actually, I'm still considering a surprise visit this Saturday... I'd want to show up on Saturday morning but that probably involves leaving at around 2-3am (I'd have to take 3 buses and two trains) It's either that or show up early on Friday night...

I have to say, for some reason I thought it had been named for the King of England... in retrospect, I suppose that makes little sense from a chronological standpoint.

I remember really noticing a lot of things in Canada being named after royalty when I started visiting Canada with my parents. Like you were much more likely to find something like "King St." or "Queen Ave." in Ontario than in New York or Michigan.

There's still a decent number of royal references in the US if you look at the areas settled during the period of British rule... they just really liked naming things after monarchs, I guess. (George Washington seems to fill that role in the period after independence. )
