Thing is with CoD is that it has to compete with other FPS games like Medal of Honor and Battlefield and Halo and Bulletstorm etc etc

So over saturation is already taking effect for CoD.

What will Activision do when all their stuff dies from oversaturation, anyway? Just live off of WoW sales?

WoW, Starcraft II, and Diablo III on the horizon. I'm sure they are really starting to push Diablo III out so it can try to cash in on a successful franchise.

They better have good timing with it though. They don't want to release it anytime near the release date of Duke Nukem Forever.

That and the market is being flooded with generic modern day FPS games. Going though generic Russian towns and the Mid-East is getting really boring, even if it is presented really well. Black Ops had a few good ideas for locations and the like that could be expanded on.

Diablo III I think was shown to be a Q4 2011 release according to some Blizzard chart I saw a month or so ago. And even if that chart is lying, that's where I'd put my money on it releasing.

Talk about putting all your eggs in one basket. Granted, it's a money-making basket but still and five developers to work on one game series sounds like a classic case of too many cooks in the kitchen. I'm betting whatever comes next November will be a clusterfuck but it'll sell better than anything else the whole year because Call of Duty.

Activison's entire plan to make money seems to be based on putting all of their eggs in one basket. Look at how much they've been neglecting anything that isn't WoW or CoD. No surprise there.

There really is no suprise, After Black Ops Came out (with record breaking sales) Activision had to kill almost all their servers for other games and dedicate their bandwith to the Cod Series, I think that Cod 4-7 use collectively about 94% of their servers, with most of the rest used on Guitar Hero games. Still, Activision is pulling in enough money to publish quite a few more Cod's before they go inactive like atari and sega

The problem is that I think the market is starting to become oversaturated with CoD games. I really liked CoD4 and MW2, but after playing like 30 hours of BO, I'm not nearly as interested in it (and the series) as I was with the others. From what I've seen on other CoD fansites, I'm not alone either.

Yeah, I to feel bored with Black Ops, but i feel part of that reason is because it isn't unique like the other CoD games. The online gameplay is too much like MW2, Single Player is still impossible on veteran due to 'nade spam and infinite spawn ememies (just like Waw) when I was able to do MW and MW2 both on veteran. Also the zombie maps are boring and far too small and not unique. However I have a feeling that MW3 is going to kick start the fans back into loving the series.

try adding a silencer to some of the weapons, (read: Ak47, Famas, FN Fal) It completely changes the weapon mechanics. Also weapons that got a bad rep from MW2 are actually good to use now like the Wa2000 and the AUG. Also, challenging yourself to use only a specific weapon for a while will let you see how it best works and how it differs from previous models. The only weapon I feel has been copy pasted is the MP5.

If you do not own this DLC you do not own DJ Hero 2.

This is worth the purchase. THIS MAKES THE GAME END WITH THE BIGGEST FUCKING BANG IT CAN

Freestyle Games better get jobs at Harmonix. If this is what they wanted to do, they need a good outlet. Holy shit.

Ah, I heard of this. GH was cool, but it got old after the 19th game.

Here's a time line from IGN.

As with the CoD studio, didn't it just get a new one 2 years ago?

Well that blows. Guitar Hero games were fun. True they bit off more than they could chew with the sequels, it should have stopped after GH:III was released and Rock Band began to become more prominent. But I still break out GHII when I have people over, it's such a fun game.

Secondly, Call of Duty can blow me. It never should've gotten the recognition it gains now. As far as I'm concerned, it was the same game over and over until they employed zombies in it. Otherwise it's just another FPS. I'm completely uninterested in the franchise and can't really grasp why everybody loves it so much. But video games are a business and money talks, so it's not to say we shouldn't have seen this coming. It's the same reason why Shenmue III will never see the light of day. CoD's sales are outrageous and Activision will continue to rape it until about 4-5 games from now when it just becomes straight up DLC.

Such a waste, and colossal lost.

I think CoD is popular because it's nice mix of realism (iron sights, character can die quickly) and Quake (somewhat similar pace, arcade-like gameplay). But that's another topic.

You did not just state that CoD has elements of Quake.

You did not just say that.

There is NOTHING akin to Quake in CoD. No health bars. Definitely not fast paced in the same sense. If you have any sense of pace it is because the game FORCES THIS on you, not because the game is naturally like that.

I'm a Quake fan, and I wouldn't consider the CoD series anywhere close to Quake's extremely fast pace. It's just that it's faster-paced that most of the FPS series out there right now (which are pretty slow imo), which could be considered "inspired" from Quake.

When I heard about this, i was pretty stunned. I rage'd for a bit, but decided, "You know what? Playing all the Current GH games doesn't particularly get boring for me, so I'm happy with what I have". And that was that. May the current GH games survive for a tad longer, and then I'm happy to say goodbye to a good series.

CoD on the other hand..
It was more than just a rage.. Just saying.
ACTIVISION! WHAT ARE YOU THINKING!?

Seriously, they ditched shitloads of good series' over the past couple of years... I hope CoD fails and they all die. o3o...
