Poking at the latest build of the Firefox beta.

Feels too Chromey, would rather have link addresses in the bottom bar. (though I think there's a way to change that).

Also appreciate the thought of expanding the reply window, but I don't really need it.

If you find a way, tell me. I'd really like to know, as this has driven me nuts.

Even Chrome gets this right by having it appear on hover, but I guess they want to go super minimal while not completely ripping off Chrome. To be honest, they could start by not completely ripping off Chrome in the first place. It's not a good design. A lot of stuff requires way too many clicks or digging through menus, or just appears to be completely unavailable. Good JavaScript/rendering/etc performance doesn't need to have shit for features or even a damn bookmarks menu that doesn't require taking up space with a useless bookmarks bar that I don't even use. Stop treating me like I'm stupid and I need everything hidden away or removed entirely, I want my browser to look like fucking blender! All kinds of controls and customizations everywhere! I really hope Firefox doesn't follow this trend, and if it does, I hope someone releases an extension to fix it.

Fortunately from what I've seen, Firefox 4 remains well customizable, except for the complete removal of a status bar. I should try updating to Firefox 4 to see if that at least can run.

Damnit, that's going to be a huge annoyance... another reason to put off updating, I guess.

Well, I've been using Mac OS X Leopard from since whenever it came out (Late '07 according to Wiki) so such an experience is not exactly new to me

One of the reasons I'd still like to use Safari. Firefox is not...well optimised. NFI if it is 64-bit though.

Yes, you've got a far better candidate for x64 choice. XP x64 got neglected.

In the latest beta, addresses have returned to the bottom of the screen. They appear in weird tooltip-like things, but it appears the old in-addressbar place has been scrapped.

I've been using Google Chrome for a year now, and I haven't turned back to Firefox ever since.

I suppose that an x64 version of Chrome would be nice, but eh, I don't think that it really is needed...

I would go ahead and switch to Firefox 4, but there's a kinda specific extension/plugin/addon (I don't even know anymore) that i can't live without.

Also, this is the reason why I can't use chromium as my main browser

Well, I mostly de-sucked Chrome with extensions, and since Firefox doesn't run, I guess I'm sticking with this, now that I have stylish, notscripts and bookmarks menu, and I'm using Chromium anyway.

Currently using Firefox. OpenBSD recently updated to Chrome 9, so I might try it out, but I’ve gotten a bit attached to HTTPS Everywhere.

Sometimes I use Netsurf, because it’s neat to see a browser that is reasonably small (the source code is 1.7MB; Chrome doesn’t even come close).

There also should be some kind of daemon that runs and updates /etc/hosts with lists of ad sites so it's global and handled by the network stack, so it's not tied to 1 browser.

Sounds like Adsuck, minus the automatic download part.

Primarily Firefox, secondary Chrome. Chrome is nice when I need a lightweight browser while I am doing really resource-heavy stuff.

How much memory does it eat up? I might switch to it if it isn't a lot. Firefox memory leaks so easily that it's ridiculous.

Firefox 4 with 9ish tabs open takes up 500 mb so far. Awesome!
