I like that quite a bit, so I think it'll stay. Good idea.

There something we can do to get these fucks off our backs?

I mean, eh, there's always a verification system, but still.

Xk says he's going to do something about it later, but in the meantime, I wish I could just disable registrations...

Guess we just kind of delete and mock them until he does something.

I'll check by every so-often and make sure that there aren't any new ones roaming about.

Auto-block any content - pages or images - with the word "certification" in the title?

Huh. Usually, the test/certification spambots haven't been that persistent, as far as I've seen. Well, first time for everything, and all that.

Since it seems that the spambots upload their crap immediately after registering, perhaps we could automatically block any account that attempts to make changes within 5 minutes of registration (and add a nice, big note to the registration page)?

I think that sounds like a reasonable enough compromise, actually. Let's try it and see how it works out.

And if a real person is blocked because of this and bitches about it on their talk page or w/e, we can just unban them.

Kind of a quickie formatting issue, I suppose, but would there be a way to, in the categories section, have a way to exclude the word "The" as the first word in sorting it in alphabetical order?

I just notice quite a bit of games shoved over in the "T" section because of it. Minor gripe, but eh. It's the English major in me.

I might ninja that away and add it myself, just because I love that game so.

GoNintendo just posted this random little article. Seems the Super Famicom originally were going to use A B C D buttons instead of the A B X Y they settled for. Is this still within our scope?

I don't really think it's worth mentioning, myself. They're just labels, the rest of the controller is almost identical to the final design. (Weird L/R buttons, though...)

[edit]
I DO find it interesting that the A/B buttons are in the "correct" place in that design, hardware-wise. Internally, the controller ports return 0x40 for Y and 0x80 for B, whereas the NES used 0x40 for B and 0x80 for A, so they actually match up here.

That's not to say the same buttons returned the same values though in the beta controller, though I can't imagine why they wouldn't so you're probably right. I actually kind of like those L and R buttons though they remind me of the Gamecube Z button almost.

Joy. Another round of spambots.

Should the Recent Changes and Deletion Log pages be edited to remove the spam URLs, if they appear close enough to the top of a page to be picked up by the "content was:" line (as was the case with 'JodieDudley2'?) Even if it's not complete, it's probably still enough of a URL for the search engines to register, and thereby accomplish part of the spammers' goals.
