Perhaps a function to import levels from a SMB(1,2,3,LostLevels) ROM? (so you can import hacks, etc)

edit: changed terminology to be understood better :"D

I can't way to play with this, although I can wait fine if it must be delayed. I've waited forever for Zelda Classic to reach a stable version. xP

Although, I'd appreciate some update on the project, SWR

I finally finished 2 of the 3 major ASM hacks regarding SMAS SMB1, and its editor, MushROMs. And now I need some play testers to give the hack a run through.

Now I'm not joking about boring sadly. Cosmetically, the game has no changes (in fact, that's what I need to be sure of). These hacks apply the custom Palette and GFX routines to allow for the expansion in SMAS SMB1. This involved completely 86ing the original codes and a giant fireball of errors has occurred from it. Today, I finally patched up the last error and to what I've noticed, the entire game is running perfectly, but I want some different people to make sure of the same thing.

Testing is open to anyone and everyone. You get all my source ASM too, so that's not a bad thing. =D
Simply play through the entire SMB1 game and make sure no visual errors exist.

Edit: fixed the link
Link

If you happen to find any errors, please post in this thread and I'll get right on it.

For the time being, I'm going to work on the level ASM again (1400 lines of code when I left off). Once I finish that, everything should finally be squared away. At the same time, I'll be tweaking MushROMs to adjust with the new changes I've made. So yeah, I have been working on it, just nothing worth updating till now.

So, other than one graphical error, and 2 things I think were wrong with the base game anyway, I can say it looks good SWR.

Error - World 4-1

When the spiny egg is in the title bar, it glitches, but afterwards it is fine.

This does not appear in other levels.

Misc BS
Level 2-1 There is slowdown when there is 5 enemies on the screen early in the level, I don't remember if the original smas did that.

World 8-2
It is possible to spring right through the hidden mushroom and bricks

This area. This may be a base game problem too.

Working Download Link, because direct links don't seem to work. (The Patch, you need Lunar Expand to apply it.)

Hey Darkdata. Thanks for lookin through everything. That spiny problem is going to bother me now. I am seriously unsure why that's happening. =S

Edit: I looked it over the spiny problem and it didn't show up for me.
Head up, I used the (U) [!] version of SMAS. There exist so many variances of it.

Hmm, playing to 4-1 again on the patched rom, and the problem did not show up. It seems to have been a random sprite glitch, odd.

So how far are you into this project? I've seen activity on SMB1 but any idea on what's been done with any of the other games? Maybe a comprehensive list of what's been done and what's to do? (lol for asking too much)

I think he's doing SMB1 first, and then he will start working on the others, one by one. So I imagine progress with the other ones has been slow to none.

That's just me guessing, though. (although, I think he said something about that a while ago)

I have some info on Lost Levels data and it's fairly similar to SMB1 which is good. And I have a bit of data on SMB3 too. But yeah, not much there. SMB1 is the only comprehensive game I've got.

If there's any "dirty work" that needs to be done I'll be happy to help... though I'd have to receive some minor direction in some things. I'd be happy to document stuff like tile properties (physical, water, etc) world map properties, etc. like I did for DahrkDaiz and Reuben.

Well, I already have some data on Lost Levels and Roy (a friend) has SMB2 well documented, so if you wanted, you could look over SMB3. It'd be easy since you'd be somewhat familiar in comparison to NES. I'll still review it a lot myself, but any extra info is always helpful.

I could port Dumb Electronically Added Difficulty over if you would finalize the level porting feature. D.E.A.D. was the first hack I've done with SMBUtility, it was quickly abandoned due to my interest of other things.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, it was made a year ago, before I even gained any awareness of my surroundings.

Yeah, it looks like it's dead...

The editor was looking awesomely good, and it has lots of potential... Maybe SWR should release it in whatever state it is if he's stopped working on it, but... It's up to him.

SWR is still working on it. But like any person he does not have too much time. He'll post an update when he's ready.

Until then, please do not assume a project is dead just because of a delay.
