They have the 200MB and 2GB versions still, but now they have a 4GB option for $45 that allows tethering. Previously it was $25 for the 2GB and an additional $45 to allow tethering under that same 2GB cap. Granted, 4GB is a lot better but still inadequate compared to other networks with unlimited, such as Verizon and Sprint.

Thankfully, I was able to get on a "grandfathered" unlimited plan with my iPhone by tricking the system. And with jailbreaking, I can tether on it if I ever need to.

Correct me if I'm wrong (I don't have a data plan), but my understanding is that Verizon and maybe Sprint unlimited is really pseudo-unlimited, since there's a 5GB acceptable use policy... in that case 4GB is fairly comparable, though less. (VZ doesn't include tethering, either)

You are correct, I just forget about them most of the time because they're called "Unlimited". I do know that with Sprint, if you have to pay the $10 extra for the 4G coverage, you get true unlimited without the soft cap. Not sure about Verizon's plans. I never looked in to them because I always had Sprint and only recently switched to AT&T.

Honestly, I don't think they're going to lose as many customers as people think the will. At least not yet. Most have no reason to switch unless they're in a really bad AT&T coverage area and Verizon is better there. The iPhone 4 on Verizon is the same as it is on AT&T, nothing is better about it. That'd mean you're forking out another $200-$300 plus an early termination fee if your AT&T contract isn't up, which it most likely isn't since you just got a new iPhone 4 last year. Most people will wait until the next generation of iPhone comes out and then make the switch. The main ship jumpers will be people who still have older iPhones and were waiting for this day to come. Even then, it'd be stupid to get an iPhone 4 on Verizon right now when in only a few months the next one will be announced. It may not be a huge leap like the 4 was from the 3GS, but it will probably have some new features like the 3GS was over the 3G.

Competition is always good.

Android could kick IOS's ass if carriers would get their fucking heads out of their asses and stop the damn lock down shit and Google would get their head out of their ass and make Android a bit more of a complete Linux system so we don't get a bunch of half-baked incomplete apps because you can't port anything over at all. They should take a hint from Meego, but nope, they're making enough money so they don't need to do a whole lot, though the performance improvements aren't too bad.

Windows mobile is pretty silly though. It's funny how the windows phone 7 has flopped so badly.
