I think that's the case for most here.

I have an on switch, though - I trip over it every time I go to bed.

I'm rather weird myself. I was always the bizarre geeky kid who never fit in and worked on computer programming during 5th-grade social studies.

Well, I did it during every class. Social studies was the first one of the day in 5th grade though. It was also the only one taught by a different teacher.

We had three different classes during 5th grade. Good times, 5th grade was for me.

We started going to multiple classes for pretty much everything in 6th grade. Although my school apparently did an experiment in 2nd grade and I had a different language arts teacher.

5th and 6th grade were in two different schools for me. K- 5 for elementary school and 6 - 8 for middle school.

K-5, 6-8, 9-12 in my first district.
K-6, 7-9, 10-12 in my second at first - which is now K-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12.

It's weird. I was the last to graduate the 7-9 school. Kinda awesome feeling to think about, really. Great, great district as well, loved the people. It feels like so long ago.

This is similar to how my school district was where I used to live. I would change classes to either PE or Choir in the middle of the day in 1st grade to 5th grade. 5th grade added another class that we changed to, and by 6th grade I was in middle school with a class schedule.

I was the loner with wrath, the one the bullies respected for having gone psycho and punched them. The protector of wusses (those who hid behind me, anyway.) And also the crazy guy.

I had the same school for K-4, then independent study for 5-12.

We do things a little differently up here...

Elementary school: K-6
High school: 7-11
CEGEP/college: Technically 12 and 13, I suppose... most people take two-year programs but some take three-year career programs.

After that comes university, obviously.

I wish they had something like that here. Schools here seem almost completely divorced from actually moving you to getting a job.

Same here. It's a damn shame and I also wish we had the same program as the Canadian school system.

I just hate the fact that colleges are so expensive. Even my wife's cosmetology school, Euphoria. She's getting loads of grant money to pay for most of it, but for a 2 year program its almost $17,000 and you don't get a real degree, just a certification. I want to go to an art school for graphic design but those are twice as expensive as a regular college.

I think that schools should teach more practical life skills and less stuff like literary criticism. People graduate from high school not knowing how to rent an apartment, use a debit card, catch a bus, call a taxi, search for a job, or fix anything.

And yeah, college tends to cost way too much, especially in this era where people are often expected to have at least a Bachelor's for just about anything

I tried to get into Full Sail online but it's just too much for me to pay out of pocket. It's unfair to those who want to get higher education but can't afford it and then there's those people who can afford but don't take advantage of it.
